MOD Bear Paw QAL - Bear Print Border Blocks

Today's post is to provide the instructions for constructing the Bear Print Border blocks.

I have decided to make a BABY quilt size.

So, as noted last week, I will be skipping this step.
This step applies to those who are making the LAP and FULL size settings.

Making the BEAR PRINT Border Blocks:

Step 1:  Use the STOP method to add the Background (A) squares to the Grey (E) rectangles.

Step 2:  Sew the (B) and (F) strips together. Crosscut WOF strip sets into 1” wide units.

  •          Make 112 for the LAP 68” x 68”
  •          Make 144 units for the FULL 84” x 84”

Step 3:  Sew the (F) and (C) strips together. Trim end flush and then crosscut each WOF strip set into 1” wide units.

  •          Make 112 for the LAP 68” x 68”
  •          Make 144 for the FULL 84” x 84”

Step 4:  Sew the units together to make the paws.

Step 5:  Add the (D) squares to the sides of the paw prints. Sew the blocks together. Completed blocks measure 4.5” x 8.5” including seam allowances and will finish at 4” x 8”.
  •         Make 28 BEAR PRINT BLOCKS for the LAP 68” x 68”
  •          Make 36 BEAR PRINT BLOCKS for the FULL 84” x 84”

For those who are joining in the quilt along, I have decided to have a linky party where you can share your progress throughout the quilt along. So if you are making the LAP or FULL size quilt and have finished your Paw Print Border Blocks, you can link up here!

Oh...so that's how you make the bear paws! I was wondering. I thought that maybe they were appliqued. Glad to see how to do them. I don't have time to make this quilt right now, but it's definitely on my near future list. :) Thanks for the QAL.
