Welcome to the first day in this week of the GREAT BIG giveaway!!!
When it comes to labeling your finished quilts...
How do you fare?
Do you bother to label them at all?
How about totes and pouches?
I got my quilt labels from IKAPRINT. There is always a link to their site at the end of my finishes posts and I do receive a small commission on all sales using this link. Thank you to anyone who has ever used it. Every little bit helps!
It was back in July of 2014 that I received my first order of 100 quilt labels from the IKAPRINT store. It was in this post that I shared how much I loved my new labels and showed off how they looked on a newly finished GenX-Aztec quilt. I used my 33rd label from that 100 label order when I finished my Zany ZebraZ quilt and had our first label giveaway. The Little Blooms in Kona finish brought me to a total of 44 labels used.
Now 100 labels may seem like an awful lot of labels. If you only use them for larger projects like quilts, they will last you a long, long time. I used the remaining last few labels from my first order just this past week when I added them to the back of some mini mini quilts. And then started into my second order of 100 labels when I made even more mini mini quilts!
I ordered the 1 1/2" size. This refers to the width of the label. And the 5/8" refers to the height. So when folded the labels are a little bigger than 1/4" and the "sew fresh quilts" shows from the front. The "by Lorna McMahon" is only seen if you flip the label up.
These labels are made by Fatih Demirtas of IKA Products. Fatih is based in Paris, France.
She make the most handsome and stylish bags and totes. And blogs about them here on her site.
You see..., I don't make the labels. I had been providing a storefront for ordering the labels from my site. But now Fatih has an updated site and all the labels are ordered directly through her.
To celebrate, she has generously offered to sponsor a giveaway that includes 100 labels of your choice and includes the cost of shipping!

1 – 200 of 427 Newer› Newest»Yes, I do make labels for the quilts that are gifts using the fabric that prints through my HP Inkjet. I should follow your lead, however, and apply a label to everything I make. Thanks, Lorna.
I currently am using Lara's Crafted Applique method to label most of my quilts, but I really would love to have some labels to sew into the bindings for some finishes!
I try and label all my quilts. Sometimes I just write a quick note with a fabric pen.
Tracinecharest at gmail dot com
I have either hand printed on the back, or printed onto printable fabric then fused and ironed. Quite a lot of work, printed labels would be fabulous. Bags, wall hangings, a quilt or two, so many places they can go. Another so generous give-away.
I started quilting last fall and just started my 14th quilt. I have been thinking about labeling each before I send it off to a new home. I'm ready to get labels, just need to come up with a name for that label. Thanks for the giveaway, maybe I'll need to come up with that name soon.
I would love these. ..I label, mostly, sometimes um...not as much as I should! Pbstrand@msn.com
I don't usually label them. I always give them a name and tell the recipient what it is called. With a ready made label i would have no excuse not to. x
I am embroidering my quilt labels and apply them to the backing.
I label sometimes, would be happy to win these simple & beautiful labels.
I try to not forget to label my quilts an d other little things, I'm sewing. And I have to different types, but would love to have one of them in another color.
thanks for the chance!
Rike
I label my quilts with small sew on labels, but I love yours with the flap. And I totally agree 100 isn't that much since I use them on nearly every project I finish.
I label show and gifted quilts. Charity quilts usually are request none or something special non descript. Wallhangings and minis I usually sign and date the back.
I label my quilts with a label I had made professionally.
I am working on my first quilt ever, it would be quite nice if I could label it !
I'm terrible about labeling my quilts.
Decent labels would make life so much easier. I do label my quilts however usually have to wait until I have got enough labels for one printable fabric sheet.
I do label most of my quilts. I usually just sign my name & the date on smaller projects. I would love the pre-printed labels to put on everything though.
I always think about making a label but when it comes to the end, I never do. I just want to get it finished and delivered. It would be great to have labels to just pop on when I'm binding!
I label my quilts but this is a much easier way to do it. Thanks!
I have some old labels I purchased a long time ago, but do not use anymore. They are not what I would use today and have been looking new ones. This would be perfect!
Sometimes I label, would love to win this!
I occasionally label my quilts. Guess I should be more consistent. Thanks.
I haven't labelled a quilt for years. Would love to have a quick and easy solution to my labeling laziness
Hi Lorna,
Some of my quilts are labeled, whereas I had the Longarmer embroider the label w/a sentiment, date, etc.
Tis my intention to label each WIP. Thank you for the opportunity.
bluestarof2(at)yahoo(dot)com
(Oh, I am SO bad about labeling! I really want to change that!)
I am usually so pressed for time as a quilt nears completion, that I don't take the extra step of putting a label on it...
These sew-in labels would be a great solution to my problem!
Pat T.
I always label my quilts!!
I sometimes label, sometimes don't. I need to do a better job at that! I have admired these printed labels for a long while and really need to get some!
I try to add the date in somewhere, either by embroidery in the design, or by machine either in the quilting or along the binding. It is quicker than making a label. IkaPrints labels look pretty snazzy though, and faster and easier than embroidering!
I haven't used labels for the few small quilts I've made. Now is the time to change. They would be a nice touch to the bags/totes I've been making. Thanks for the giveaway! akronne17@gmail.com
Haven't always labeled my Quilts, started, and now with these labels it's easy to do all the time !
I try to label my quilts, especially when they are gifted.
I do label my quilts with a large label, so I'd love something a little smaller like your labels, this would be awesome!!! Thanks for the chance!!
I printed a few on ribbon using the freezer paper method. Of course the quality is not the same as your pre printed labels :)
I do plan on labeling my quilts. I have my first one almost finished, and another started. When done they will both get a label. Great giveaway- thank you Susan
I label all my quilts big or small. For a long time I didn't and regret that I didn't.
I always label my quilts, almost always label table runners, and rarely label purses, although I have labeled a few. I always enjoy seeing what you have made and the use of your labels. :)
I do label things I make. I designed my own logo and bought some iron on labels for bags that I make, but have not used those on quilts. I usually make a label for quilts using the alphabet font on my sewing machine. The iron on labels usually need stitched down to be certain they stay on. I would love some of these labels.
Ohioholman@aol.com follows via email
I label my quilts. I'm better now than I use to be. The grand-kids love the special notes I write on the labels.
I have labeled a few of my quilts, but especially now that I'm 70 I really need to take the time to label the rest!
I do label most of my quilts, but sometimes one get away from me!
I do label SOME of my quilts, not as many as I should. And I only label my bags if I am giving them to someone. I love your labels though and would love to win some of my own. Thank you!
I already left one comment but don't see it in the list, so trying again. I label some but really need to get the rest of my quilts labeled for my kids and grandkids to know which ones I've made and where the other ones came from! I'm now an email follower in addition to google dashboard.
Thank you for sharing this info on your labels. I usually add a label on the back of my quilts by making an extra block and embroidering info on it, but many times I get lazy and just omit this step. These little labels would be perfect. Thank you for this giveaway chance.
I have not been labeling my quilts. Sounds like a great idea, I just haven't gotten into the habit.
I usually sew in a written label, but would love to have a pretty printed one to add to my projects. Thanks for the giveaway.
Some of the time I label - its about 50/50! thank you!
I have never labeled anything I have made. I have no excuse but sheer laziness and am hoping that already printed labels will inspire me!
I am so new to quilting that I haven't completed a quilt. I am just about ready to finish one and would love to have some labels. I love your Black Birds
I embroidered a custom label for each quilt I have made.I should get labels for the other things I make.
I have labeled my quilts....but not always because i'm not good at it. but i'd love to have a pre-printed label like yours to make labeling a breeze!
I try to label all of them, after all, in 100 years they may still be around.
I try to label my quilts, especially when they are going to someone else. I usually just hand embroider a patch with some info on it, but if I were to start producing large amounts of quilts (which I would like to) this would be out of the question! I will be checking out Ikaprint labels.
Every time I start a quilt I promise myself that I'll attach a label but by the time I finish the binding I've neglected to do it again. Having labels printed and on hand might be a great solution especially if I kept them in my binding bin.
I label my quilts in a corner on the back with a triangle(fold a square piece in half). I sew a length of binding on the folded end and sew the other sides in place when sewing the binding onto the quilt. Then I hand sew down the binding on the folded edge to the quilt back. Then I hand write on the triangle with permanent marker.
Depending on who I make my quilt for is how I label it. If it is a family member or close friend I will embroider a label. If I'm making a commissioned quilt - I use my Ikaprint labels that I ordered. :)
Awesome labels! I have been ogling them for awhile to add a touch of professionalism to my quilts. My current labels are hand lettered with a pig a pen and look a little clumsy! churcae(at)auburn(dot)edu
For family I use the letters on my sewing machine and "sign" things, but usually I don't label. I would like to!
I have made my own name labels but the ones from IKAPRINT sure look great. Thanks.
Yes, I do label my quilts. I use fabric that I iron to freezer paper, and a permanent marker. I put the name of the quilt, handmade and hand quilted by me, and the year on each one.
What a fun giveaway Lorna! I label some quilts but not all.
I do label them....when I can remember. But I have gotten a lot better at it, lol.
Yes, I've gotten really good about labeling in the past few years. I even labeled a quilt I inherited that my grandma made - perhaps in the 30s. I wish I knew more about the quilt and that really spurred me on to labeling the things I make. Most generally I use my embroidery machine to make my labels. I have always admired your labels - great designing.
I am rather haphazard about quilt labeling - I need to improve.
I try to label my quilts. Sometimes I just want a little label and these would be perfect. Thank you for a chance to win.
Yes; I always label my quilts. My friend, Lou, used her embroidery machine to make several decorative labels -- I just fill in all the details (name of quilt, for whom/why it was made, and my name and city) with a permanent ink art pen. Lovely! (lynnstck(at)yahoo.com)
I label, sometimes...mostly because I really hate making my own labels.
I label them all and record them all in a quilting journal notebook. I'd love to have some small labels like these to use on bags and runners.
I mean to label all my quilts but probably less than half are labelled :(
I always label my quilts, maybe in the hope that they will be around for a very long time. I also keep a record of them with a photo. so much love and hard work goes into each quilt so it should be recorded.
Sue
Sue52g(at)gmail(dot)com
I label some of them, but not all of them as I should.
Thank you so much. thanks to you I got my labels and i love them :)
I label just the big quilts with a fabric marker. Table runners or rag quilts I don't, but I should!
basaran.family at rogers.com
I do have some of her labels. Love them. Use them on all my quilts.
I always label my quilts. I think it's so sad when reading about an antique quilt and there is no information about who made it. I'd like to start labeling smaller projects too. Ika labels would be perfect for that.
I bought labels from another source and although they're 'fine' I would like to try someone else next time. I label all my quilts and any other projects I sell or gift.
I have been leaning towards labeling my quilts more and more, this seems like a great way to do so!
I have only completed one quilt and have not yet labeled it. I know I should and will get to it eventually.
I haven't labeled all of my quilts, most of them.
Unfortunately I don't label my quilts, I suppose I should be
I have only been labeling my gift quilts, but would love to begin labeling more! Thanks for the chance to win!
I usually label my quilts, but to be honest, sometimes I'm too lazy or in a hurry to gift my quilts. I love the option of ready made labels.
I do label my quilts with labels like yours. I like them because they are small and can be used on just about every thing...bags, minis, baskets!
I regret not labeling my earlier quilts. I'm starting to label them now.
I do label quilts. I enjoy creating them with cute designs, words, etc.
I always label my quilts in some way - sometimes it's a hand embroidered one for gifted quilts, sometimes it's a small satin label for mini items.
I LOVE those labels. I use a similar type and use them on everything I make. They are a lot easier to use than trying to make a fancy label which I am terrible at doing.
I used to label gift quilts for family members, but I haven't used labels in a few years sadly. You certainly are right about the IKA labels, they're sleek and gorgeous! I should get back into labeling.
I love these labels, so thank you for posting the information on how to order them! I do label some of my quilts. I tend not to if they are staying with me. I'd love to win this! Wendy at piecefulthoughts.com.
I do label quilts that I make for friends and family. I don't label those that I make for philanthropic causes.
hijoffeATgmailDOTcom
I do label my quilts but I do not label my smaller projects. I think that is a great idea. I even forget I made something for someone sometimes.
I make labels for all of my quilts.
Oh yes!!! It's like reading the last page of a novel-tah dah! But really a historical record, who, when, even why.
I've only labeled large quilts until now, but those labels are wonderful! Hoping that I win, so I can label EVERYTHING!
I label all quilts I have made. I also write the new owner's name hidden somewhere on the front, just in case it gets stolen and the label taken off.
No I do not label my quilts. If I ever quit buying fabric I will be able to buy labels, then I will have to remember to put them on. LOL
I label now...Can not began to count the ones I never did.
I want to label all my quilts, but I don't. I use the triangle in the corner method when I remember.
Would love to give these labels a try.
I do not label my quilts but I want to. I love the labels you use.
my first three I didn't but I do now - I want people of know who made them
Yes I make labels for my quilts. I usually put a pretty rubber stamped image on a square of muslin and write the relevant info (date, occasion, etc.) with a Pigma micron marker) then I handstitch it to the back of the quilt. I don;t label my bags and totes but these labels would be wonderful for that! It would give it a nice professional-like finish.
I make labels for most of my quilts especially as the majority go to family members.
I've labeled most of my quilts.
I haven't been labeling my quilts. I know I should, but I do take pictures.
I label my quilts, but don't enjoy it. Preprinted labels would make it easier. I just can't land on any kind of professional look for labels.
Thanks for this give-away! I don't currently label my quilts, but I'm playing around with fabric ink and stamps for just such use.
I label quilts I make for gifts but don't consistently label the mini quilts I make for myself. Winning the labels would definitely help with that!
Yes, I do label most of my quilts. Always sort of wondered about what to do on the little give away/boutique things I make. LOVE this as a solution.
I do label my quilts and write them myself on fabric. But I tend to forget to use a label on my handbags.
I mostly make labels for my quilts using printable fabric sheets. I like to make them personal with the name of the person receiving it as well as other information. For smaller items I may just use permanent ink pen. Thank you for the giveaway.
I just started labeling a few of my quilts. I have been quilting for 25+ years. I need to get on the bandwagon! Thank you for the giveaway.
I always label my gift quilts, and try to label most of my other quilts. I usually fussy cut a pretty motif from the fabric to make a label, or use an "orphan" block for a label.
I love the IKAprint labels, so I think I need to order some of these!
Thanks!
nettiecrain@live.com
I do label some of my quilts and bought some embroidered labels a few years ago. I have been looking into additional labeling.
tushay3 (at) yahoo (dot) com
I try to make labels for quilts, but hadn't really thought about other projects, until a couple months ago. I ordered some IKAprint labels when they were BOGO. How will I ever use 200 labels????? But I love them!
In the past, I've made hand written labels (with micron pens) because it's so very personal.
I have a small supply (50, I think) of labels that I ordered from another company. I like them, but think I'd like to try IKA labels next time I order. I've used my current ones on the projects I'm most happy with and projects that I give as gifts.
Sometimes I label and sometimes not...so having already made labels would be wonderful.
I rarely take time to add a quilt label, although I do like them and think they are a good idea. I love the simplicity and quality of these labels, which also look so easy to add to a project.

Labelling, sometimes yes, sometimes no. If it's a gift or required for a show etc, I do, otherwise I don't. Do believe that I should label, though!
I have never labeled my quilts (I've only made 2 so far!), but I've been thinking about it and have been trying to figure out what I would put on my labels if I order them...
I'm embarrassed to say that currently I label my quilts with a black fabric pen on the binding on the backside of the quilt - just my name & year. Would love to win some labels.
I don't lablw anything but would like to.
Thanks,
Peggy
peggy_verdongibbs@att.net
these look wonderful -- I'd love to start labeling my projects cause I am the worst about this
I have labels but not happy with what I ordered. I do use them on my quilts. I also put a hand written one one.
I labeled the one I made for my Mom.
I have started to label my quilts. These label would make it easier, especially for small quilts
I am not very good at labeling my quilts. But, I really need to start.
I've never labeled by quilts :( However, I just got my batch of 100 labels from ikaprint this weekend. Thanks so much for the tip and pointing me the direction of the company.
I have labelled one of the two quilts I've made. These would be great for labelling the little things!
distantsub at gmail dot com
I usually hand with my own labels, sometimes I draw something related to the quilt on the label. Other times simply my name, city and date completed and who designed it if not an original piece.
Thanks for a chance to win a give away and a discount for ordering some.
always label mine but the ones i bought years ago are just about gone, Thanks for the chance
I always label my quilts. I just adore your labels and I am definitely going to order some! So sweet and make a perfect finish.
I try to make up labels but more times than not I end up just writing on the quilt corner with a pen to put the name and date. urgh
I label my quilts with machine embroidered labels. I usually try to do 2-3 at a time, if I have that many projects completed, or about to be completed. I do have a couple of quilts and labels that haven't located each other though. Lol raydeer@memlane.com
HELLO, most of my quilting is for Charity,so I just sign with a Heart! For a family/friend gift I usually write in one corner, so this would be a nice win! Thank You for sharing!
msstitcher1214@gmail.com
Would love to have special labels to use!! I usually get those packs at JoAnn's...is a yard of twill with Made with Love printed...can get 12 "labels". These would be AWESOME to use! thanks for the chance to win!! :D
I am very slack in the labelling department - if the item is not going to be washed I use my vintage typewriter to type a label. I haven't got a system yet for labelling washable quilts .... I have seen such wonderful ideas around but by the time the binding is done and sometimes a hanging sleeve is attached I feel that I am done with the quilt!! However, I have always admired your labels so would love to be entered into the giveaway for this great prize. Thank you!
It's funny about labels, some quilts I do, some not, I am not even sure why. I hesitate to get labels for the same reason, sheer number sounds like way to many but then I think I'd like to have them. Maybe one day!
Thanks for the give away! crazeematz@gmail.com
Great labels! Thanks for the chance to win!
When I made my first quilt, I knew it was going to be a lifelong love, so I when I attached my label I gave it #1. I number and label all quilts, wall hangings, and table runners, and I'm up to #137! Thanks for the chance to win, your labels look awesome and easy to use!
I love those little labels. I could use a couple hundred for sure! LOL Particularly if I use them on everything I sew!
I do label all my Quilts, but little else.
Yes, I label my quilts but not small items like mug rugs. These labels would be great on both! I bought a printer that uses pigment ink cartridges and it has made labeling easier but still not a dark rich lettering.
No I don't.
I just started labeling my quilts last year. Those labels look so professional! I would love to win some.
Labels have been on my 'to do' list for a LONG time!! Very nice.
Yes, I label all my quilts. I use a rather large label and puts lots of info. on them. I would love the smaller labels for small projects like bags and pouches which I don't currently label. sjvonfumetti at yahoo dot com
I do label my quilts, but sometimes my handmade look is a bit lacking. I'd love to have some shark looking labels all ready to go for the next time!
I label quilts that are gifts with purchased labels and I label swap quilts usually with hand written labels including the swap name, date and my name.
I currently only label quilts for gifts and those I keep in my own collection. Printed labels are on my list to get. Thanks for the chance. I will definitely use you affiliate link when I go to purchase :)
I have never made a quilt label for my quilts. I would love to start doing this, though
I am diligent in labeling all my quilts. I've seen your labels on your posts and really like them, but have been hesitant to move to something similar because I like to add more personal information to the quilt. I especially like to make baby quilts, and I add name and birth date. However, I have some more generic labels that I had made for the quilts I donate (made by a seller on etsy) and I have been thinking about using those on all my quilts, so the timing of your giveaway is lovely :) I went and looked on the IKAPRINT site and her labels are really fantastic.
I've only made two quilts and haven't yet labeled them, not sure if they'll be kept for a future grandchild or if I'll gift them. Professional labels would work either way. I like the way you track the use of your labels! Nice way to keep a record of your makes.
I rarely label my quilts. When I do, I either write on the backing with a permanent pen or use printable fabric and my computer.
Your labels are so nice Lorna, because they look Sew Fresh. I do tend to label quilts, but often forget to label the little things.
I MEANT to put a label on my quilts but I forgot every single time. Maybe if I had some really cute ones, I would do it. :)
I don't label anything but I would love to start.
Yes, they're usually the homemade kind. I'd love to have some of these!
I've gotten quite good at labeling. These labels look great.
I FMQ my name and year while quilting.
I have never labeled my quilts, esp. since I'm pretty much a newbie and have only completed 2 quilts in my 4 yrs of learning to quilt. I was just recently surprised with my 1st longarm from my hubby and 1/2 our basement has been turned into a quilting studio. I would love to have labels to get me started on the 20 quilt flimsies(tops) that are waiting to be quilted. And since this is a Great Big Giveaway, I'm prepared with a Great Big Mailbox...lol Thanks for the chance.
I label quilts with a label embroidered on my machine. Smaller items I label with labels similar to yours, but I would love new ones!
I usually do. But I also make store samples and don't always label those
I usually label my quilts. If it's a mini for me, I might just write the date and my name with sharpie. For minis I've made for others, I designed labels on my laptop. If I had these sweet little labels, everything would get one!
Yes I use labeled
I ordered wrong at first, so now I have ladles for my quilts and for my minis or pillows.
Yes I use labeled
I ordered wrong at first, so now I have ladles for my quilts and for my minis or pillows.
I don't have any labels so don't currently label my quilts. Would love to start though!
I use the embroidery machine to label, but my digitizer is no longer doing that, so I need to learn how.
Currently, most of my quilts that I give to family or close friends are labeled with a hand embroidered design about 3 inches x 4 inches on a fabric matching their quilt or muslin. I have been toying with the idea of ordering 2 sets of labels, one with lines for details such as the date, etc. And then a second set with my blog and name only for the little things, swaps and whatnot.
I don't have any labels so this would be a great prize.
Fun!!! I do label the quilts that I give away, this would be awesome!
I was so excited to finish my first quilt (just this past March) that I definitely labeled it - baby's name, birthdate, everything! kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet
I try to remember to make labels for my quilts...especially the ones I am giving as a gift. I usually handwrite them.
I am soooo bad about labeling my quilts. I've thought about getting something like what you use for a long time so it would be great to win the giveaway. Thanks.
I don't currently label my quilts, but I'm definitely going to be looking into this now that I know how inexpensive it would be!
Sadly, I have yet to label any of my quilts, however it's something I have been looking to remedy. Since I only hand quilted them until recently, the volume of completed quilts hasn't been large, and all but one are still accessible to me. To win this giveaway would allow me to tag the existing quickly and have them on hand for my upcoming machine quilted projects. -- Jenny Meeker
Yes i label my quilts....I have a permanent marker i use....Love your labels... happyness04431@yahoo.com
I do label my quilts, but with a pen. They don't look nearly as nice as these. cknapp3626(at)sbcglobal(dot)net
Yes, I label quilts. I use the method where you fold a 5" square of fabric in half diagonally and sew it into a back corner of the quilt. I hand write my information.
I didn't always label but now I've been doing that more, especially when I give a quilt as a gift. It helps people remember when and where the quilt came to them.
I was taught to always label quilts, so yes, I do, and sometimes I'll even label table runners (if I remember!) Thanks for the opportunity to win such a great prize.
Hugs
Naomi
I don´t usually label them and when I did it I by fabric that it`s use to label and handmade it.
I always have the best intentions of labeling my quilts, but in the end I've only ended up labeling a few. I really need to get better at that!
I don't usually label the things I make. I am determined to start doing it.
I label my quilts, depending on the quilt the label is embroidered or just written on.
I label my quilts, depending on the quilt the label is embroidered or just written on.
I just ran out of the custom labels I had made on Etsy. Sometimes I just use a Pigma pen and write a message on!
I label some of my quilts, but I'm not consistent about doing it. These labels are so cute, I'd get everything labeled in a heartbeat!
I won't say I have labeled every quilt I've ever made, but most of them.
I don't label my quilts currently, this looks like it would make it easy.
I don't label my quilts and struggle to decide what to put on labels because I don't have a blog or business. I know I should start though.
I label my quilts in a really hit and miss sort of way. Sometimes I make a label, sometimes I don't. I would really like to change that! 😀
silverthimble@shaw.ca
I don't label my quilts as of yet, but it's on my to do list! I definitely need some labels!
I do label my quilts with hand written labels. I have been looking for some printed labels to use instead, though. These look really nice! Thanks for the chance to win them!
Sandy A
not always because I don't have the labels
I am very sad to say that I have only labeled a couple of my quilts. Thanks for an awesome giveaway.
I just started quilting and have not officially completed my first two projects. Binding and washing is all that is left. My wife has encouraged me to get labels and I likely will if I don't win these. Great post and I really had never thought about labels to be honest with you. But I recently thought about doing some
Table runners or other small projects and this
Makes me realize they could be handy
Yes--I try to label every quilt I make!
No, but I want to start
I do try to label most lap size and up quilts!
I do not label my quilts and I know I need to start!
