So I drew up a bear and some bees on my graph paper. And then, once I had an idea of what I wanted to do, I sat down at the computer with my EQ7 quilt program to perfect that design. The more time I spend using the program, the more I learn. And therefore the more I enjoy using it!
What I love about using the EQ7 is that I can adjust the quilt and block sizes. And I can import fabric swatches into my program and see just how they will look using solids or prints.
Here is the design using solids.....
And here is the design using a few of the prints I purchased from Canadian National Fabric back in May. Plus what I may have purchased additionally while I was fooling around with this design.....
When exporting images to save them on your computer, you can also save them without the lines, giving you an even more realistic image. And helping you to see just how your design will look using the fabrics you chose.
This little quilt is currently sitting at 36" x 40". I will still have to work out a cutting plan and pattern before beginning. But it sure was fun spending a few hours being creative, working on a new quilt design, and getting to know my EQ7 quilt program a little better. Oh ya... And shopping for additional fabric from Canadian National Fabric!

I really love the bees and the way you capture the chest of the bear in the design. :)
I've got EQ7, a person can get lost in there :) I must get back to doing tutorials and learning more about it. Love your Honey Bear!
Oh that's going to be so sweet - and what a clever bit of tech to use to do it!
I have seen several people do designs with multiple block sizes in one quilt. I clearly need a tutorial on how that is done.
Love it Lorna!
that is going to be a cute quilt. I have never gotten the hang of EQ
Love this design, Lorna! It's adorable!!
I'm with Karen. I have heard the EQ website is very helpful but I haven't explored that. I get too impatient trying to figure it out myself, would rather sew someone else's pattern!
Oh that's so cool! Thanks for the peek into your design process.
What a sweet honey bear!
This is going to be adorable! I love seeing your designing process!
You come up with the cutest things! I really need to take the time to learn my EQ7!
So cute!! I've never tried the EQ stuff....but sure like what everyone creates!
Hee hee hee hee hee... that is too cute Lorna. It makes me smile!
I love EQ and You are so darn creative! Great design!
So how about a tutorial on EQ using different size blocks within the same quilt? I love what you have happening in this cute quilt!
A bear? Wow. You come up with some great animals.
Your designs always impress me. And this one is super cute!
I really like that print version! are you using it in custom mode?
Love EQ! Such a great program!
Lorna, I've been looking at EQ ever since the first one came out, but I never bought it. Your use of it makes it so appealing, but I'm still scared that I'm not tech savvy enough to learn it. Is it intuitive or a lot of hard work to learn? Just wondering. Do you know of sites or videos that would give me a good sampling of how to use it?
