Things are really buzzin' at the hive. So much going on...
It's nice to take a break. Sit down with a cup o'coffee.
And buzz around from one blog to the next and see what you are buzzy working on!
The finished ZebraZ quilt and pattern release were blogged about this past Friday. And my completed Zany ZebraZ baby quilt, using the cheater blocks, will be posted later this week. Check out the Zany ZebraZ made by Sandy of Upstairs Hobby Room. Her posts on instagram are such a pleasure to see! You can follow Sandy on IG here.
In spite of a small glitch along the way, the FREE quilt along Elephant Parade is going strong! This week's instructions for sashing, borders and backing were posted on Sunday. And next Sunday will be the last week of instructions before the Linky Party opens! It has been so much fun to see everyone's progress each week. And all of the different ideas people have had for making this quilt uniquely their own.
Please note that I really appreciate the outpouring of support and quilty love shown in the comments, direct messages on instagram and personal emails sent to encourage and uplift me. Your kind words are so very appreciated.
And I hold absolutely no ill will toward Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet for addressing the issue of the tulip block being so similar to her Tulip block from her Quilty Fun book. She was encouraged to do so by her publishers who also hold copyright to that Tulip block. I have removed my tulip block from the Elephant Parade quilt along and from the pdf pattern because I was nervous about appearing as though I had stolen her block. That is the last thing I would want people think of me.
If you have been quilting along on the Elephant Parade, do not feel as though you cannot use that tulip block in your quilt. That is not an issue. For those that haven't made the flower blocks yet, you will now find the instructions for the two blue flowers to be made exactly as the single red flower.
After
I wrote this post, I went back to check my instagram and seen Lori had replied
to my message. She certainly was kind about it. Really. She seen my
previous posting on instagram about her up and coming book Farm Girl Vintage
and asked if I would like to be a host blogger in promoting her new book this summer in a
sew along. Of course this can only be a good thing. Us farm girls 'otta stick together! It really is all working
out for the best! Quilty hugs all around!
Especially for those of you who are no reply bloggers, I wanted to make sure you know how much I appreciate that you took the time to comment and show you care. Thanks for your support and encouragement! It means more than you know!

The words of Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet make me angry. When 100 quilters want to design a tulip block many of them will end with designs like your block. Lori is inspired by others too. You are handling things so correct and of course you need to be kind to Lori and of course you feel sick about it, but that is not necessary. You are very creative. And your work is very 'Lorna'.
BTTW: the tulip with the tulip is so cute!!!
Holy zebra cuteness! Thanks for sharing Sandy's zebras -- I love the different black-and-white patterned fabric she used for each zebra.
And for the record: you are one classy lady, Lorna, full of creativity and a big dose of integrity. It's a pleasure to follow your artistic journey, both here and on IG. : )
So cute Lana! Your zebra's are adorable. What creature do you plan on doing next? :)
You are handling so correct dear Lorna - I love your works and I am glad to make this quilt along with you - you are so creative!
Hugs, Deborah
Love your ZebraZs Lorna! And the Zany ZebraZ looks sooo fun! It was a joy to piece your Elephant Parade quilt - So well written and designed! I am definitely buying this pattern too! Sandy's turned out terrific! I'm following her on IG now.
So many things I didn't know about! Heading to Crafsty now for my ebook. Love the Zebra blocks, they are adorable.
Classy is hard to find and you certainly are that! You shouldn't apologize ~ feel embarrassed or whatever you are feeling about this fiasco! You and your creativity are amazing...now get back to work, I'm sure you have a ton of things to do! :)
I agree, Lorna you are very talented and creative, don't you worry! I love your zebras!
Those zebras are so cute - I don't usually do cute, but I'm very tempted to do them! Great work - you're so creative!
Regardless of how nice LH and her publishers are being, I believe you are being 100 times as nice. I am irritated that I bought a very expensive pattern by LH only to read inside afterward that she forbids selling any items made with said pattern. After reading copyright links I am pretty sure she does not own what I make but I would not look for trouble. Just opened up my eyes about her style, so this incident does not surprise me.
Still not much progress happening at my house. So love your Zebras and your Elephants!!
Your zebras are adorable, Lorna! Why, oh why, can't I have hours and hours and hours to sew all the things? I hadn't heard about the tulip issue, but I'm with all the others who are a little surprised there was an issue at all..after all, how many ways are there to make a tulip? That being said, I probably would have felt horrified and embarrassed if it had been me too, and you've handled it beautifully.
Wow, I feel like I missed out on something big. Sorry there seems to be some glitches. Love the zebras, super cute!!
Lorna, I haven't been following too closely with the zebras as I'm in the middle of a move from TX to IL and let's just say it's been a challenging move BUT, you have nothing to apologize for. You have taken the high road and the speaks volumes for the kind of person you are. I'm with the others... how many ways can you make a tulip? I would have never associated it as a copy with these zebras. Hugs girl, hang in there!
Try not to stress over the tulip (hard, I know), and congrats on the zebra pattern and elephant QAL!
I love all you patterns and your generosity sharing them!
Those zebras are so cute. Love the different colored backgrounds.
Love the zebras. Almost done with my elephant parade.
I am sorry to hear about the glitch, but it sounds like you have kept it from becoming a full blown ordeal! And just because you won't be publishing a tulip in your pattern, it seems to me anyone might include a tulip in their Parade, if they want to :) Looking forward to seeing everyone's Elephant Parade soon!! I am just curious what you have up your sleeve next....giraffes :) xo
