Let's Bee Social #263

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social!

This week I have a whole lot of finishes to share. But they are all from my readers!!!!!

Hi Lorna,

I wanted to send you  a few pictures of a quilt I recently  finished using your patterns. I'm not one to leave well enough alone, so I adapted the twin size to a baby size instead of using your pattern the way it was written. I wanted all the animals, and then some, so of course I made myself much more work. All the patterns are yours, just not quite in the layout you had worked out.

When I was almost finished sashing the top, my daughter came in and said, "But where are the tails for the elephant and giraffe?"  I said that I was almost done and I wasn't ripping it apart to add tails. Uh huh. Sure. Of course I did it ! And made them 3 D to boot. Kids!!

The male lion took me 4 1/2 hours to piece. Wow. I really do sew slowly!  Anyway, I had a lot of fun and my niece (who had done her baby's room up in safari theme) loved it!  I had done your Forest Friends baby quilt in the summer for a different niece (adapted that one too cause I just can't do anything the easy way) and that she loved it as well. Then I made pillows for the two older siblings using their favourite animal from the quilt. I think I sent you a picture of that one in the fall.

Thanks again for making such lovely patterns. I hope all is well with you and your family. Heather MacDonald

I just finished this quilt. My 11 year old grandson stitched the birch trees and some of the background! I did the foxes and quilting. This was a great first project for him! If I did it again I would add a 2” border in the same color as the sky/background. Thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of the piecing. The directions were very clear. Thank you!  Lori Hollis

Hi,  I'm doing the laying pipe quilt. The instructions for the couplings seem incorrect. I cut according to your measurements, but when sewn together they don't match the pipe pieces. Please see the attached picture. As far as I can tell the red and orange coupling pieces should finish at 1" and 2" to attach to the pipe. Please advise ASAP. I'm at retreat and quite frustrated. Thanks for any help you can offer.

(We conversed and I corrected the cutting chart for the couplings)

Problems with drips though. They are smaller than your drawing, so the background pieces don’t fit.

(We conversed more and I corrected the cutting chart for the drips)

Your directions were great and easy to follow. It was just those measurements that threw a wrench (no pun intended) into things. Sue Decker

I’ve been keeping up with the block a week of the Harry Potter quilt. I really like how you present your patterns. I don’t use social media except for email and surfing the net, so I don’t know what kind of feedback you’re getting on the sew along. Thank you, Lorna. Here’s what I’ve done so far. Hi, Lorna;

I am not tech savvy enough to be able to link up to show my quilt blocks, so I am emailing them. I am sorry to be such a dork. Luna was a real challenge for me. I had a hysterectomy last week, so I have been unable to stitch up Snape. I will definitely get to it as soon as I can. Thank you for this quilt along. You are really awesome. Also, thank you for the sale on the fox blocks. Very cool. Karen Gardner

Thanks for the newsy blog. Congrats on so much love coming from pattern users. That defines success to me. Where can I find the corrections for Pipe Laying that were mentioned above? Please advise. xo
