Giraffes in a Row {Sold Out}

Thank you everybody.

That's all I can say!

Since my participation of Houston Quilt Market this past October 2017, which you can read about here, I have been wondering if the expense of taking the trip would pay off. I mean how can you really tell?

If there has since been an increase in sales...

Was it due to exposure gained from being at Market?
Was it due to being taken on by PA Distributors just prior to Market?
Or was it simply due to a viral Pinterest post?

Who can really know?

Andrea Schmidt sent me an email with the photo shown above attached and said, "Lorna, I snapped this picture at Gruber’s Quilts on Saturday at International Quilt Festival Chicago. I am glad I already had my pattern. I love your patterns. Thanks so much!"

Who can really know what makes a pattern popular? Is there a formula for success?

All I know is that I fell in love with Giraffes in a Row when I made both of my quilt versions. I could not resist them and took them on as my Sew Fresh Quilts logo. Those cute wee faces, eh?

Giraffes in a Row 57" x 57"

Who really cares about the answer to all these questions?

I am happy to be doing what I love....
Happy to be able to share that love with others when they enjoy making from my patterns....
And happy to just keep on quilting together and doing what we love!

Keep On Quilting On!

that is one cute quilt I can see why it is so popular - if I had a little one I would be making it - I bet it was nice to see the sold out sign on it. If you are ever a vendor at the quilt show in Paducah let me know and I will make sure to go so we can chat - that one is the closest to me and I go every couple years or so

So hard to tell what makes things sells, and what will be the next pet rock. Having a plan with common sense is the safe way, but sometimes it takes a real flying-by-the-seat-of-your-pants attitude. Maybe a combination of both? Bottom line is I'm glad for you that your patterns are a success, and you're so right. Do what makes you and the people you design for happy. That may be the secret to your success.

See, you are rocking it. Fun, bright, reasonably simple quilt patterns shown in different colorways. This is what sew many people like.

What a great picture to see! It's definitely something of a guessing game to figure out why something sells well (or doesn't for the matter), but it looks like you're going in the right direction so far :)

Congratulations for persevering across all sorts of ideas and platforms! Keep designing what you love and don't try to repeat the same thing. Your work looks terrific!

WHAT a buzz for you; your head must be right up there with those adorable giraffes which I, too, just love. So happy for you, Lorna. :-)

Lorna, congratulation! Your patterns are cute, fun to work on, and exciting to finish and give to a loving recipient. It's great seeing you do so well, regardless of the reason. Enjoy the great success and I hope you can enjoy many more years of it, if that's what you so desire :) I know that I'm not alone in wondering what the next great pattern will be.

It is hard to know how to measure success, but I hope that you are successful in all those ways and even in ways you hadn't considered. Congrats! You are already successful in my book.

Congratulations on all your success! I love your patterns and have made a couple. They were well written and easy to follow. I work in a quilt shop and have passed your website on to people when they talk about making giraffe quilts. Someone recently asked for a hedgehog pattern. Do you have one of those?

Their faces are definitely adorable. How nice that your pattern and kit was sold out. Clearly, there are a lot of people who enjoy what you're doing. Keep being creative.

Hi Lorna,
I could not possibly be more happy for you! You deserve all the success that comes your way, and more. {{Hugs}} I hope you found the expense of the trip to be well worth the value you received from the trip itself.

Will there be more of the giraffes? Will there also just be a pattern and not the entire quilt?
