ONE MORE THING...
Before we get into the instructions for today's block...
For those of you who have been quilting along and don't want the fun to end or who want more Christmas quilt blocks to add to their quilt, I wanted to let you know about this new Christmas quilt along that begins soon.
I was reading about the "I Wish You a Merry Quilt Along" over on Yvonne's Quilting Jetgirl blog. This is perfect for those who have been taking part in the Have a Jolly Little Christmas QAL, which is soon coming to an end. The block designs are all 12" so you can mix and match!
Click here to check out the post for all the details!!!!
Christmas Lights is a 12" quilt block.
Made using traditional piecing methods.
Finished size of block is 12” x 12”
Read through entire instructions before beginning. Press all seams open as you go.
STOP: Stitch, Trim, Open & Press. To perform the STOP method, align a square (A) or rectangle (C) on the corner of the unit (B) with right sides facing together. Draw a diagonal line and sew along this diagonal line. Trim a ¼” seam. Finger press the seam open and then press with a hot iron. Pressing the seams open to reduce bulk is recommended.
Step 1: Use the STOP method to add the Dark Green (B) square and (C) rectangle on the end of the White (D) rectangles. Make four of each unit.
Step 2: Use the STOP method to add the White (G) squares on the corners of the Blue (H) square, then to add the Dark Green (A) squares. Follow this step to also make Red, Yellow and Green units.
Step 3: Sew the units made in Step 1 onto the units made in Step 2.

Yet another awesome block. Thanks, Lorna, for all you share!
Can't wait to make the last block and get my quilt together!
Love these lights! Would be perfect in a border too. They are so cute. Thank you for all the lovely blocks. I still have some catching up to do.
Thank you for some wonderful blocks. I hope to use these soon to make my first-ever Christmas quilt. I made the Elephant Parade for my grandson's baby quilt 2 years ago...it's well loved. Thanks for ALL your patterns/blocks.
Cute block, thanks. I do have a question though. You said, " Note: Sashing this block will give the illusion that the Christmas lights are on a string. Use (2) Dark Green 1” x 12.5” and (2) Dark Green 1” x 13.5”, before adding the border."
I see white sashing between the lights in your block and green borders. Where does the green sashing go?
Oooh I'm so behind!!!! Need to get my skates on!
I love the rainbow lights, a great color addition to all of the wonderful blocks!
Thanks for the referral to the Wish You a Merry Quilt-Long! Its been an inspiring group to work with and I hope people do come over after they finish yours! It was quite fun to design a block!
