Christmas Stockings

This is the first quilt block for the "Have a Jolly Little Christmas" quilt along!

So glad to have you join me! If the number of times the PDF download for the free colouring pages has been accessed is any indication.... There are so many people participating!!!! It makes my head spin!!!

Did you get your free colouring pages?

All the details for the "Have a Jolly Little Christmas" quilt along are this page.

Today's block is the easiest block in the bunch. So it's a great one to warm up with. Especially if you might be having cold feet about joining in this super fun quilt along. Hahaha! Er, I mean.... HoHoHo!!!

Here we GO!

Christmas Stockings is a 12" quilt block.

Made using traditional piecing methods.

Sew Fresh Quilts – Christmas Stockings

Finished size of block is 12” x 12”

Dark Sock #2

Light Sock #2

Read through entire instructions before beginning.  Press all seams open as you go.

STOP: Stitch, Trim, Open & Press. To perform the STOP method, align a square (A) or rectangle (C) on the corner of the unit (B) with right sides facing together. Draw a diagonal line and sew along this diagonal line. Trim a ¼” seam. Finger press the seam open and then press with a hot iron. Pressing the seams open to reduce bulk is recommended.

Single Block

2 @ 2.5” x 6.5”
2 @ 2.5” x 7.5”
2 @ 3.5” squares
 Sock #1

 Sock #2
1 @ 2.5” x 5.5”
1 @ 4.5” x 8.5”
Sock #2
1 @ 2.5” x 4.5”

Step 1: Use the STOP method to add the White (A) square and (E) rectangle on the Dark Sock (C) rectangles.

Step 2: Use the STOP method to add the White (F) squares on the corners of the Dark Sock (G) rectangles.

Step 3: Along with the White (D) and Light Sock (B) rectangles, arrange and sew the units together to complete the block. Block should measure 12.5” square.

Here is my Christmas Stockings block.

A quilt along is always more fun than quilting alone.

This is going to be a favorite block! Love the block sizes and that they can quickly become a little quilt from just 1 block pattern.

I love your blocks! And the idea of starting for holiday gifts now is wonderful. Are the fabric requirements going to be posted for each block or is there a total requirements summary available?

This is going to be a very fun one!

It seems I can't procrastinate any longer and have to make a decision on fabric before I get behind before I even get started. LOL
