Welcome to the first day in this week of the GREAT BIG giveaway!!!
When it comes to labeling your finished quilts...
How do you fare?
Do you bother to label them at all?
How about totes and pouches?
I got my quilt labels from IKAPRINT. There is always a link to their site at the end of my finishes posts and I do receive a small commission on all sales using this link. Thank you to anyone who has ever used it. Every little bit helps!
It was back in July of 2014 that I received my first order of 100 quilt labels from the IKAPRINT store. It was in this post that I shared how much I loved my new labels and showed off how they looked on a newly finished GenX-Aztec quilt. I used my 33rd label from that 100 label order when I finished my Zany ZebraZ quilt and had our first label giveaway. The Little Blooms in Kona finish brought me to a total of 44 labels used.
Now 100 labels may seem like an awful lot of labels. If you only use them for larger projects like quilts, they will last you a long, long time. I used the remaining last few labels from my first order just this past week when I added them to the back of some mini mini quilts. And then started into my second order of 100 labels when I made even more mini mini quilts!
I ordered the 1 1/2" size. This refers to the width of the label. And the 5/8" refers to the height. So when folded the labels are a little bigger than 1/4" and the "sew fresh quilts" shows from the front. The "by Lorna McMahon" is only seen if you flip the label up.
These labels are made by Fatih Demirtas of IKA Products. Fatih is based in Paris, France.
She make the most handsome and stylish bags and totes. And blogs about them here on her site.
You see..., I don't make the labels. I had been providing a storefront for ordering the labels from my site. But now Fatih has an updated site and all the labels are ordered directly through her.
To celebrate, she has generously offered to sponsor a giveaway that includes 100 labels of your choice and includes the cost of shipping!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 427 Newer› Newest»I try to label most of my quilts, but some manage to slip by. Recently I saw a suggestion of using the twill tape from the fat quarter packs to machine embroider my initials and year and tuck that into the binding. I used that idea to tuck into the seam of a little bag I made...looks great, but not as great as your labels. Thanks for sharing such a neat giveaway!
I usually make a heart label but I get creative on my quilts with labels.
For quilts and such, I hand-embroider all the info and then hand-stitch the label on the quilt. I'm learning how to make labels with my new embroidery sewing machine. Several years ago, I ordered a roll of labels from a vendor through Annie's CAtalog, that screen-print your name on a choice of a few designs. Those are great for every-day items like clothing, pillows, gifts.
These labels look and sound awesome, too!

I have been somewhat hit-or-miss about labeling my quilts, something I need to rectify.
I just started recently to label them. And for long i wanted to find some personal labels also for the little goodies like bags etc. .
It's a bit hit and miss... sometimes i do!
I embroider labels for my quilts - these labels would save me so much time! Thanks for the chance to win.

I label all of my large quilts, but not my small ones. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for sharing
I do not like making labels. This would be so easy!
Yes. I have some labels that I sew in when binding.
I always label my quilts, but I embroider them. This would be so much easier for those not specifically intended for someone special! robinsheloratearthlinkdotnet
I label all my quilts (almost). I usually make an hand embroidered label, I think it's another fun thing to design to finish up the project in style! Thanks for the chance to win!!
I label all quilts but not little projects except the ones I gift.
Raffle opted asked for my favorite color which is orange
I do label all my quilts, but have not put labels on the smaller items I have made. I think these labels would be great for those. On my quilt labels I add a lot of information such as who the quilt was made for and why.
I write on the back of the quilt. I really should make labels, but it is so much fun to find a space to write a personal note to the person receiving the quilt.
I always label my quilts; to me, that's like the signature on a painting.
I label my quilts, and smaller projects: usually I write on a piece of light coloured solid, but sometimes I embroider the labels. I would love to have some ready-made labels; thanks for the chance!
I do label my quilts. Probably because I started quilting with many swap projects. I know a printed label would be more impressive than my handwritten scrawls though.
I do label my quilts. I make a label from solid fabric and write with a permanent pen.
Yes, I make sure all my quilts and wall hangings have some sort of signature on them and information too. On my grandchildrens ones I like to add additional little sayings etc. When I make clothing for them I draw on my personal label in the back of the garment, so winning a few labels would be fun to use. thanks for the chance
I label my quilts, but nothing that looks as professional as these. I'd love to start.
Previously I was using "self-made" labels out of iron on transfer paper and twill tape, but these days I'm using ones ordered off etsy.
Yes, I label my quilts by embroidering my initials and the year in a corner. Would love to be more professional with real labels!
Thanks, Kathy
kdavis1@centurytel.net
I generally use my Ikaprint labels (thanks for sharing that information), but sometimes I will put a handwritten label on the back.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wahooooo....THIS is a giveaway I'm keeping my fingers crossed for. Anddddd thank you for the details on the tags you order, as I've tried to figure out which ones you order and couldn't. Now I knowwwww! :)
Love those little labels. Blue seems to be my favorite color if you check my closet but yellow dominates my stash.
I label the ones I give away but I'm bad about not labeling the ones that I make just for fun. I can never think of something to say so I add the label once I decide where it's going.
I tend to label my quilts when I have a specific recipient/purpose in mind. I normally print something onto my special printing fabric and stitch it onto the back of the quilt before quilting, when I remember. Every now and then when I have enough time to make something just for fun - those quilts usually don't get labeled. 😟
I haven't labeled my quilts. I know I want to start. I had the binding on my last one before I realized I should have put on a label.
Yes I label my quilts, have never thought to label bags & mug rug type of things...dorocarol@gmail.com
No, and I know I need to!
I have some little labels a lot like yours, but with a thimble icon added, because that is my favorite symbol. I would love more labels just like yours (but with my name, lol.) Sometimes I do the big label with all of the info. xo
I often hand embroider a label and sew it directly into the back of the quilt. I really do not like the look of them sewn on after, but have been very happy incorporating them into the back. I love the idea of your little labels and would really love to try this out!
Quilt label-it's the one part of making a quilt I don't like. I've been thinking of ordering these labels but I'd like the date to be on it. kthurn at bektel dot com
All I can say is 'sometimes.' I am not very consistent. Maybe I need to work on that.
I sometimes label my quilts, but I often do not. I don't like the methods I have tried in the past much. This would be super fun to try.
I'm not always consistent about labeling my quilts. Labels are included when the quilt is a gift....wedding, baby, birthday, or just because. Not so much on the ones I keep.
I have never labeled a quilt - I think of myself as an amature and have never sold a quilt. My family has been really bugging me to sell my work, I think the fear is that no one would pay money for it.
You betcha I label my quilts! I'm a label nut you could say... Lorna I will message you later as I'm sure you won't be able to read all 240+ comments, but in case you do, did you offer a 5% discount before?
I do label my quilts but it is usually just a permanent pen signature on the back. I occasionally do applied labels that I make with photo transfer fabric sheets.
I label my quilts with handmade labels but would LOVE professionally made labels like these that could be used on totes and other projects too!
Yes I label my Quilts when I finish, lots of UFOs I really need to finish great giveaway thanks
Yes, I label most of my quilts. Some by using black ink on a block, with details of the quilt. Some by ironing on a label that I made (on the printer, on iron-on fabric) But I LOVE these labels!!
Susie
Ive never labeled my quilts... This would give me the boost I need to start!! Thanks for the chance to win!
I can only remember labelling one and that was with an embroidered label, if I had some printed labels it would be easy!
I label when I remember but the current labels I have are silky and I'm not so convinced they last very long. A lot of my work is charity so those I don't label. Thank you for the opportunity to win some amazing labels.
I have never labeled anything.
Yes I do sometimes when it is for a special someone. I always wanted to order made label so if I win I had better get thinking what to put on them.
No, but I really should!
I try to remember to label my quilts. It's usually just a small label though. I don't tend to put a lot of information on the label.
I try to label my quilts but sometimes forget !!
I have only used a label (homemade) once but would love to win these. Thanks for the opportunity.
Thanks for a chance to win
I ordered labels and I love them. Great job!
I always label my quilts.
I do label my Quilts with my own homemade quilt tags. But I have been wanting to look into purchasing my own created tag. If I don't win that's OK I will just use them to buy my own.☺☺
I make my own labels - usually about 3"x 6"- giving a title eg " Gather Round" and details - eg made for my great nephew "Reece " and followed by the date and my name and location.
I just recently started labeling mine, and are going back to label the older ones now.
I try to make labels for my pieces that I give as gifts but not ones I make for my house.
I do use labels, but make my own. I tried different methods, but really like the ready made labels. Thanks for the giveaway.
I try to label my quilts, but sometimes a cute label would be the perfect solution. I used to have similar labels when I sewed garments. Here's hoping I'm the lucky winner
I haven't labeled all of my quilts but I'm trying to do it more often.
I have small labels, serial, with the inscription hand made, but without my name
Wow those labels are cute. I think I'm going to order some. Thanks for the discount code! I usually label my quilts but not necessarily my bags etc.
I label some of my quilts but not all.
I do label my quilts, I think it adds a personal touch
I always label my quilts. I was lucky, that was something emphasized in my very first quilting class and I've stuck with it over the years.
Not really. By time I finish the quilt I usually am tired of working on that project or it's finished just in time to gift. I do need to start.
I haven't labelled my quilts but would love to start doing so!
I ordered my labels when you first reviewed them - they are AWESOME! Would love to restock!
I usually just label larger projects; currently I embroider the date and my initials.
(I think I'm not a no-reply but in case: jhunsberger (at) gmail (d0t) c0m)
Yes, I do label all of my quilts. I like to embroider my labels and I use a piece of Kona snow and border it with a print from the quilt.
I've only completed a couple of quilt for my kids, but I need to start labeling them :)
I am just learning how to comment. I want to label my quilts that I am working on now.
Yes, I usually hand embroider my quilt labels. I love the idea of these printed labels, particularly for smaller items like bags, etc.
I only label my quilts, usually my appliqueing a label to the back. Occasionally i print a label on fabric using my printer & computer but usually i use a permanent marker on a pre printed label
I do not label every quilt but when I do I use my printer and bubblejetset 2000, thanks for the giveaway!
I print my own labels and use different fonts and colours. I always explain the reason for making the quilt or who it was given to.
No, I am terrible at labelling. I need to start!
I make labels for some, and simply use a sharpie on others! I love your labels!
I should label all my quilts, but only do so occasionally.
Yes, I do label them. It adds a final nice touch.
I haven't yet finished a quilt to label (well, other than my first one 7 years ago which I gave to my mom), but I print my own labels in the same style for the coffee cozies I sell on etsy!
I'ce never labeled a quilt
Yes, I currently use a triangle label that I sew on with the binding.
I need to catch up on my labeling. I tend to put it off but I do like to label them
I label almost all of my quilts. I did not label my mother's quilt because it is not going anywhere out of her sight. I had not labeled Paul's quilt initially but he made me add a label to it with the name of the quilt - Paulitiks :-D
And for the quilts I know I will send to charity, I do not use my professional label. I use a plain label and write the quilt name and my first name, city and year.
I only label them if I am sending them out for a show. I know I should label them though.
Hi there Lorna,
I do label my quilts, I use Pigma and fabric gel pens and make a hand-lettered basic label.
Quilty Huggs,
Jacqueline
I make a label on muslin and write my information with permanent ink pens. Then I sew it on.
I do label my quilts. I have some that a friend embroidered, so either I embroider or write on those, or I make a label from some fabric. I use ones similar to yours for purses and smaller items.
Green! But I also love a lot of other colours, such as orange, red and yellow.
I try to label all of my quilts but I admit that for little ones for my family's babies I do not label, and the Women's Shelter I donate my quilts to do not want any labels or names on the quilts they accept.

No, I'm terrible at labelling quilts. I really need to!
I always label my quilts - I try to find a way to make the label match the quilt, but these labels would be wonderful to have on hand as well!
I LABEL when i have time and try to get to every one!!!
I always label my quilts, and many of my garments. Sometimes I hand write them and sometimes I make them with an alphabet on my sewing machine or an embroidery machine that I have access to. I would love to have this type of label!
I label my quilts most of the time.
I either hand print my label on a light color solid framed in 1" finished strips around the label and sew on by machine. Sometimes I iron a fabric on freezer paper and print on my computer printer...when it cooperates!
I'm a bad bad quilter. I rarely but labels on my quilts...I did when I started but haven't for years.
Most of them - once in a while I get in a hurry and forget!
I currently create embroidered labels on my machine for my quilts, and buy some small cheaper versions for my handmade purses and things - I've always admired your labels - so simple but stylish!
Yes, I always label my quilting projects!
These labels are so something I have been looking for! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I label many that are gifts!
No I do not label my quilts. But I want to! And know I should!
Sometimes I forget to label things like mug rugs. Most of the time I sew a triangle into the binding on a bottom back corner. I use a permanent fabric marker to write the information. thanks for the chance to win momoftana at yahoo dot com
I have best intentions of labeling, but I never seem to get around to doing it. I do have labels that I stitch into the bags I make.
I don't have any labels, but know that I need to invest in some.
Not always, but these labels would make it so much easier!
These labels would make it so much easier!
I have bought labels through you a couple of yrs. ago and have never found what I did with them. So not I don't label my quilts.
I do label my quilts but I'm very bad at making the large labels with all the information like the date, place and my full name. I just sew the little labels into binding.
I have not yet started labeling my quilts so this is great!
I do label my quilts by embroidering some info on a square.
I just recently started labeling my quilts but I'm still not sure which method is best to use. I seem to use a different method each time I do label a quilt. I'd like to start putting some sort of label on my other finished projects but haven't settled on what or how to label them. Work in progress.
I usually label my quilts by using a block of the top on the back and write all info on top. Your way is so smart and easy though! Thanks for the idea and the chance to win!
cottonpaperflowers at gmail dot com
I think I am pretty good at making and using labels for quilts but not so good for smaller projects!
Sometimes I do label. I use some iron labels from the fabric store, but have been looking into printed labels.

I don't put a label on quilts I plan on keeping. I do label my quilts I give away :-)

I must confess I'm a little hit and miss with my labels. If the quilt is a gift or it's going to be hung in a show or display it gets a label. Other wise.... And my labels vary from quick and dirty on muslin to printed out on fabric with my inkjet printer.
Sadly I do not! I know I should, I just don't ever make the time for it!
Yes, I do. I think it's is important. It's like signing a work of art.
I DO...THOUGH SOMETIMES IT SLIPS MY MIND
I make my own labels with a personal Bible verse for the recipient. But, I would love to have these labels when I am short on time, and just need to get it mailed. Thanks for the chance to win. (celiaambrose@hotmail.com)
Most of the quilts I've made so far are for Quilts For Kids, and their label has a space to write my name. Apart from that I use generic store bought labels (e.g. made with love by Grandma). It would be lovely to have labels of my own!
In the past I didn't label my quilt, but starting to now. Thanks for such wonderful giveaways.
I label them if they're going to someone else. I don't tend to label ones I'm going to keep
I never consider a quilt to be finished until I've put a label on it.
I label quilts...usually create a homemade label.I used pre-made labels a lot when I sewed a lot of clothes. I'd use pre-made labels for charity quilts. I think all quilts should be labeled.
I have labeled the last quilt I made (as well as the minis) and would love to do something more professional. Thanks for the giveaway!
Yes but not as neatly!
Labels have been my single largest challenge so far in quilting, FMQ, paper piecing, foundation piecing, blocks ...everything included. This would be a great opportunity to win some labels and tag my quilting work.
If it's a gift, it get's a label otherwise I don't bother. But these would make it a lot easier!
I have labeled SOME of my quilts? and intend to go back and label the ones I've given my grandchildren
Yes, I do label my quilts. They also get a creative name!

I have labeled some of my quilts, but should do all of them! I would love to win these labels, and it would help me label all my quilts. Thanks for the giveaway, and the discount! darlsc@gmail.com
I hand print all of my labels but this would be a fabulous addition to my quilting supplies! Love the labels and will have to order some!
I think all of us should put labels on our creations.
thank you for arranging this giveaway.
I'm pretty bad about labeling. I need to be bettee about it.
I only labeled one quilt so far, and it was a special gift. I bought a pre-made label that matched the colors in the quilt. I would like to label the rest of my quilts...

bestbelle2010@aol.com
I don't, but I love the simplicity of these.
I make a label for special quilts that are gifted....I need to start labeling everything I create though....
I do not label my quilts.
I label them if they're gifts
I mostly add labels to my projects. But
Not for items I am keeping for myself.
I label my quilts and projects with a black marker. I tried embroidery, but .... who has time? I mean. I love that, but it did not look good.
thank you Lorna
I had some labels I was gifted by my sister in law years ago to label all of the things I made for nieces and nephews "Made with love by Auntie Brenda." I've meant to replace those for many years with something current. Thanks for the steer.
I do label my quilts -- usually.. sometimes I plum just forget.. simple little labels I printed on KONA snow with preezer paper
I make traditional labels, but love the labels to sew into the binding! Thanks!
Sometimes I label them and sometimes I don't, but love the idea.
I don't have any labels, but I would love some.
I do label some but have to make them each time i would LOVE to have some pre-made labels I can just put on everything without having to think. I could still make special labels for when I gift a large quilt for a special occasion.
I have never labeled any of my projects before, but I am starting to now. The trick is FINISHING the projects!!
I am just putting a label on my latest quilt, but have missed some! And, then you have to try to figure out when you finished it! Should just do it right away LOL. I tried to order these IKAprint labels, but for some reason my server won't let me get onto their site so I can't explore the options :-(. I will have to consult my computer tech son when he's here :-(.
Jacqui
I've only ever made labels for quilts I'm swapping, I really want these fancy labels though!
Lately I have not labeled my quilts, though I used to. I did label one I made for my son to take to college, but the ones I have made for home use or given away lately have gone unlabeled...
I label most, but not all my quilts
I label most, but not all my quilts
I totally believe in the importance of labels, but I have to admit I'm a few behind at the moment. Would love to win these!
I label the quilts I give away, but not the ones I keep for myself, like my mini quilts or all the table runners I've made. I would love to have my own labels, just know know what it would say!
I use the new crafted applique or iron on labels from etsy with a cute orange cat for most things.
I sometimes label my quilts but I need to be more consistent! These labels would help!!
sometimes
Yes I do, just make them myself.
I'm terrible at labeling my quilts. A friend of mine is always after me to do so; I need to start!
At the moment I make a label with my machine for my quilts - I'd love smaller labels for pouches etc😀
I usually embroider mine
I always plan to make labels, but then I forget when I get done with them. Horrible, I know, but this would be a great way to make it easy for me to do. Jadahlgr at Yahoo dot Com

I'm new to labeling. I would love to give these a try. Really cool!
I haven't tried binding yet, but when I do my plan is to label.
Yes! I label my quilts
I rarely label. Bad me!!! Thanks!
I sometimes label. More not than do though
I should... but rarely actually do because by the time I'm done, I'd rather get going on another project.
Sometimes I label and sometimes I don't -- but I should all the time!!
Sometimes, for family members I usually do not.
Yes, I label my quilts. I try to personalize the label for the person that will receive the quilt.
I label most of my quilts with custom made label that are embroidered. They are nice, but a bit too small! I like the size of the ones you use.
When I sew for Project Linus, I sew on one of their labels. We are allowed to also pin a paper label with our name on it to the quilt, but some of the organizations that distribute the blankets prefer that the donor names be removed. So they unpin the paper label.
I label everything, woven labels, inkjet labels, embroidered labels, and labeled with fabric pen. crystalbluern at tds dot net
I'm not bad at labeling my quilts but I'm not good at it either. I only label about half of them. :/ Thanks for the chance to win!
I try to label all of my quilts. I like to create handwritten ones with the important information such as who it is for, who made it, when it was completed, the name of the quilt if it has one, and the pattern it is based off of, if there is one.
Yes, I do label my quilts, either with a written label (on the prim and repro quilts) and with Ikaprint labels on my modern-contemporary quilts.
I would if I had these labels to easily add!
No, I wrote with marker for a couple of quilts I gifted to family. Other than that I have not been labeliing. It's something I want to do with all quilts.
So far I haven't labeled my quilts but this is such a cool idea!
I struggle to find a good way to label them! The last one I gifted I embroidered a label with my information! Love these though!
I have labeled a few when they were used for Quilt for Kids, but not the ones I make and give as gifts.
I enjoy following your blog/ Love your ideas L dont labei my quilts unless they are gifts.
I am working on my first quilt and will label them.
I've been a bad girl 'cause I haven't really labelled my quilts at all! One that was a gift I did use a sharpie on scrap fabric and sewed it into the binding...so I could really use labels!!!
I made some labels on spoonflower but these would be much better!
I label my quilts, usually with labels I have made with machine embroidery.
I try to label them but I don't always get it done. My favorite method is to create it on the computer and print it on fabric paper from EQ. I like to scan a picture of one of the fabrics and use it for my background.
