IKAPRINT fabric labels GIVEAWAY {redo}

When it comes to labeling your finished quilts...
How do you fare?

Do you bother to label them at all?
How about totes and pouches?

It was back in July of last year that I received my order of 100 quilt labels from the ikaprint store.  It was in this post that I shared how much I loved my new labels and showed off how they looked on a newly finished GenX-Aztec quilt, for which I also shared a free tutorial on making that quilt.  I used my 33rd label from that 100 label order when I finished my Zany ZebraZ quilt and had our first label giveaway. The Little Blooms in Kona finish brought me to a total of 44 labels used.

These labels are made by Fatih Demirtas of IKA Products.
Fatih is based in Paris, France.
She make the most handsome and stylish bags and totes.
And blogs about them here on her site.

You see, I don't make the labels.
I had been providing a storefront for ordering the labels from my site. But now Fatih is launching her updated site and all the labels will be ordered directly through her from now on.

To celebrate, she has generously offered to sponsor a giveaway that includes 100 labels of your choice and includes the cost of shipping!

To order labels and get a 5% discount
click on the ikaprint photo above
and use the coupon code AFF05.

Who wants to win a chance to Make Your Own Quilt Labels for FREE?!!!

Hate to admit it, but I haven't actually been taking the trouble to label quilts... Definitely need some of these labels!

This is terrible, but I never label anything! Maybe this would be the kick I need to get started. :)

I make sometime a label but would now to have a more professional look for my finished quilts. Fingers crossed & hugs from France.

Thank you for such a generous offer! I've tried making my own, but the iron on keeps falling off the ribbon, I don't think it likes ribbon.

Debbie said...

When I do put a label, I print it out or hand write it on fabric and fuse it to the back of the quilt, either tucked into the binding or stitched on. It would be cute to have label tags, too!

I've just started making crafts so I haven't used labels yet.

I ordered some of these when you first introduced them. Love them. I make some handwritten label for the grandkids quilts but I use these on quilts bags and even in clothing. Love them, would love to have more. Thanks! (Sewystuff@gmail.com)

I always have such good intentions of labelling my quilts. Lately I have been much better at actually doing it. I use preprinted labels from Moda. In the past I have also 'made' a label (i.e. a square of fabric that I write on!). I'd love to have my own though!

Kathy Manning said...

I have used a handmade label on the ones I gave away but I wasn't really happy with them. The quilts for home are all unlabelled

Anita said...

I label all my quilts with a specially designed label that I order from a website. My son made the design, and Jennifers Jewels prints the labels according to my instructions. I am very pleased with the result.

Hildy said...

I'm quite lazy at labeling my quilts. Normally I just write my name and the date on a cahrm square and put this on the backing before the quilting. Not the best methode I think.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes I type a label on a piece of muslin and sew it on. Usually I write directly on the back of a quilt with a Pigma pen. A label definitely would look more polished. -- soparkaveataoldotcom

After your first post I ordered some labels by Ikaprint - and they are perfect. I like to get some others, so I can fit the label's color to the quilt or pouch.
Greetings, Rike

Kath said...

I haven'lt used labels and have been wanting to get something ordered, so this giveaway would be put to good use - if I win, of course. Thanks for this opportunity.

KathleenD said...

I don't use a professional label on my quilts. I make individual labels for each quilt. Of course, with only about a dozen made so far, it hasn't been a problem!

KaHolly said...

I make labels for each quilt individually. I don't include labels on my bags and pouches. What a great giveaway! Thanks to you both.

I've only made labels twice - printed them on my inkjet printer. Thanks.

Saddely, I never had labeled my quilts, and this great giveaway is also a great opportunity to do it!

Yes, I do add labels to my creations. I had them made online and at the time, I was happy with them. Since then, I know I want to have different ones made for the next batch. I think it's important to label our projects to give ourselves credit! I do love yours!

Dorian said...

I do use labels, sort of... sometimes I just write on a block I sew into the backing of the quilt. Sometimes I sew a blank square of fabric into the backing and write on that. I also have some premade labels for my bags and smaller items. Would love to win these! Thanks for the chance.

KathyinMN said...

I don't always. I had some labels made up by a different company (This was before I found your blog). Your labels are nicer. My labels say 'kathy made this'.

Susan L. said...

I do put a label on all my quilts. Sometimes I use a reprinted label, but most of the time I create a label, & hand sew it on. I would love to get a set of these labels. They would make my life so much easier!

I ordered labels from IKAPRINT earlier this year. I love them! Use on all of my sewing projects - quilts, clothes, and bags.

Jill said...

I usually label my quilts-especially if I am gifting the piece. I like to include care instructions so the fact that they can be machine washed and dried will encourage the new owner to USE the quilt!

Sherry VF said...

I label all my quilts using a swatch of fabric and hand writing the quilt name, pattern name, date, my name, etc. This method doesn't work for smaller projects like bags and totes, so, I don't label them. The IKAPRINT labels would be great for those projects. svonfumetti at yahoo dot com

I label my quilts by adding a triangle (folded square) on the back of the quilt, in a corner, when I sew on my binding. I sew a narrow binding on the folded edge and then hand sew that in place when I sew my binding to the back. I write whatever I want on the corner label with a ultrafine sharpie.

I am trying to do better about labeling my quilts and have done them different ways. My latest (and easiest) way is to fold a 5" square in half diagonally and stitch it into the back corner of a quilt when I am attaching binding. Of course I write the details of the quilt on the label first. I need to make one today as a matter of fact.

Hi there Lorna,
I write out my quilt labels with a Sigma pen, then use leftover binding strips as a sewn border around the label. Then I sew them on the quilt back with an invisible stitch BEFORE I FMQ. That way, If a quilt is stolen, it will be quite difficult to remove the label and claim the quilt as their own.
I have been dying to try out a commercially-made label to brand my items(want to set up an Etsy store in the next year), but am not so computer-savvy and am not sure how to do it! It is the same with Spoonflower fabrics-I want to make up my own designed fabrics, but am not quite sure how to do it! groan…

I do label all of my quilts and that means even the ones we keep at home. I was taught that when someone picks up one of my quilts 50 or 60 years from now they will want to know "who made that gorgeous quilt?" ;-) I include my whole name, where I live, the date I finished it, the name of the person or persons I made it for, if they are a friend or relative and where they live and if it was for a special occasion. I program my machine with the info and embroider it all on the binding prior to attaching the binding to the quilt. In that fashion anyone who picks up one of my quilts will never have to guess who made the quilt they are so attached to. Or if one of my quilt ends up in the state of Washington whoever finds it will know where to find the owner. The only way to dispose of the label is to remove the binding. Most thieves would never go that far. I sure would be happy to win some labels though to use on charity quilts. Great giveaway! Thanks for a chance.

I don't use any label. I'm not sure what I would "name" I would like to have on it :)

Love your labels, and they are so cool on your quilts.
