Life's a Jungle, Baby....

Welcome to Thank Goodness it's Finished Friday!

This is Giraffe Love and it's made from Kona Cottons.
For the Background: Ice Frappe, Pond, Pool, Breakers, Cyan & Oasis.
For the Giraffes there is Sunny & Cedar.
Cactus, Peapod & Grass are for the Leaves.

Choosing a backing fabric was difficult.  I looked to my online friends for help in making the decision.  In the end I went with something completely different and chose 8 Days a Week by Ampersand for Windham Fabrics.

The quilting was performed using my walking foot, spaced 1/2" apart, quilted using Superior Threads' Poly Quilter #331 in Lemon Chiffon thread.  This thread is subtly variegated and warmly depicts the sun kissed breezes blowing among the Acacia trees of Africa.

For the binding I had thought about using a black and white stripe.  But I dug into my stash for something that would blend in with the quilt top and found this Up in the Sky by Dan Morris for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  I think those blues go perfect with the background of this fun quilt and the binding provides a striking frame.

This quilt finish was the 34th use of my 100 labels ordered from

You can design your own labels, too!  Click here!

The Giraffe Love quilt finished at approximately 40" x 50"
and is now listed with my other Quilts for Sale in my Etsy shop.

And the pattern is now available from my pattern store here.

Thanks so much for joining me for TGIFF! this week....

Please show off your Friday finishes!

This quilt turned out awesome, and I love the gentle curving lines you chose for quilting! I think the back works well with the bright colors on the front.

Lorna, you've outdone yourself! Those giraffes are irresistible and the fabrics you chose make this cute design so fabulous (and oh, that quilting... perfect!!). Wow. Love this quilt!

Love the subtle quilting on this one.... I especially like that some of the waves/air currents end midquilt. Very clever! And, of course, those solids are yummo!

Another wonderful quilt by you! I love the quilting and appreciate the detail of the color across the sky and the giraffe. Are hippos next in line after the monkeys?

I love the giraffes! Are you working your way through all the zoo animals? They've all been great patterns so far.

Such a sweet and fun quilt Lorna! Your depiction of the giraffes is so clever! I think Superior should hire you to name their threads - Sun Kissed Breezes sounds so nice!

This quilt turned out awesome! I really like the wavy quilting you added, it adds great movement to the quilt without taking away from the piecing at all.

I've not been doing too well on the commenting front recently but I've loved seeing your giraffes and monkeys patterns following the gorgeous zebras and elephants. And the finished giraffes are brilliant, they've turned out so like your original pattern yet better, if that makes sense!
