Wild Life - Friday it up Finish

Welcome to the Wild Life!  Oh, DEER.... I can hardly BEAR it!

I used my walking foot to quilt around and inside each of the animals.  And then, with all this negative space, I just knew I would have to do some free motion quilting.

The straight line quilting was performed on my larger machine, affectionately known as Aunt Elna.  But she just isn't a free motion quilting kind of girl.  For this I set up my Little Janome.  Other than for winding bobbins, he does not get much use anymore, since Aunt Elna moved in at the beginning of the year.  But, in spite of his only having 6.5" between the needle and body of the machine, he is the master of the fmq at our house.  The top had finished at 42" x 54" and the quilt only lost 1/2" each way after quilting.

Yes, yes, yes.  I know....  As shown in my earlier post, I did purchase some really cute fabric for the backing and binding.  From the Forest Friends collection designed by Ingrid Slyder for Moda - Forest Friends Toss in Pebble.  And for the binding - Forest Friends Birch Trees also in Pebble.

But I was looking through some of my older stash and found this great print with all these gorgeous fall colours and could not resist using this instead. Harvest Market by Robin Betterley for Wilmington Prints.  This oak leaf and acorn camouflage print seems to suit this wilderness quilt so much better!

And for the binding, Harvest Fallen Leaves by The Henley Studio for Makower. I quite like the nice, crisp frame effected by this darker print.

This quilt finish was the 16th use of my 100 labels ordered from

I spotted the Wild Life quilt in it's natural habitat.  And chased it over by the woodpile.

Perfect for an outdoorsy baby, this quilt has been captured, tamed and is now for sale in my Etsy shop.  The pattern is available from my PayHip Pattern Store here!
