Sunday Stash

Welcome to another Sunday Stash!

Brought to you by Sew Sisters Quilt Shop and Mad About Patchwork.....

Kona Carrot, Buttercup, Cactus, Eggshell and Snow.

This little bundle of sweetness was courtesy of Sew Sisters Quilt Shop.  I was invited to take part in their Kona Club Challenge - post coming in January!  The Kona Club Challenge is to use the 4 fat quarters (plus a neutral) to make something and to share a tutorial on the Sew Sisters blog.  On their blog, Sew Sisters has a tutorial page where you can find free tutorials for all the projects made by the participants to date.

Each Kona Club member receives 4 fat quarter or half yards based on a palette built from appealing photos, such as this one from April 2014.

You can become a member of the Kona Club and build your Solids Stash!  You would have 4 Fat Quarters or 4 Half Yards of Kona Cotton Solids delivered to your doorstep each month. Click on the picture to read all about it!

An order from Mad About Patchwork was also delivered to my mailbox this past week....
Kona Candy Pink, Bright Pink, Widescreen Crosshatch in Grey, Kona Kiwi, Sour Apple, Pear and Honeydew.

Peeking out from between the array of pink and green Kona Cotton Solids is 3 yards of Widescreen Crosshatch in Grey by Caroline Friedlander for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  I recently finished my Giggles UP! charm square quilt using the Widescreen Crosshatch in Pacific and could not resist trying out the grey.  These wideback fabrics are great for when you want a nice crisp backing without seams.  The Widescreen Crosshatch gives a sleek and modern finish!

Kona Everglade, Cypress, Breakers, Bonsai, Cactus, Cedar, Olive, Banana, Lemon and Koi: Smile and Wave.

More fat quarters of Kona Cotton Solids.  I may have a little bit of a crush on Kona.  And a half yard of Koi: Smile and Wave in Rose.

Kona Mango, Melon, Paisley, Orange, School Bus, Salmon, Red, Punch, and Dumb Dot in Lagoon.

Warmth in fat quarter cuts and a yard of Dumb Dot in Lagoon by Michael Miller.  This pile reminds me of sherbert.  And that summer is over.... for now!

Those who follow me on instagram are witnesses to the fact that my obsession with Kona Cotton Solids is not the least unorganized.  I am keeping snippets of each, complete with their labels, so I can easily choose what I will use in my next project.  And order accordingly!

Lately I have become fascinated with the notion of choosing the backing fabric and then matching Konas for the front as with this Ohio Stars in Solids quilt.

Hi Lorna! Beautiful post! I'm just starting with solids but so in love already! Thank you for your tip to keep the colour scraps with the label for the future. x Teje

Oh this is too bad, I had not really got the Kona bug before but your colours here are so beautiful I might have to go and shop.

My solids box is overfull, I should not buy any more just now, but yours do look tempting! Perhaps I can persuade you to try a little paper piecing, solids work perfectly for that! Have a productive week!

I just love getting those squishy envelopes in the mail... especially when they're filled with Kona! You've got some lovely combos there!

That's a great idea for solid organization. I bought some solid tan lately and I when I thought I might need more, realized that I didn't even know what color it was. I'll have to remember this for next time!
