BEFORE: This is how my sewing room looked last week.
I prefer a clutter free work area. Being between projects, I just knew.... Things needed to change.
After spending the entire day sorting through old fabric, washing plastic totes, cleaning shelving and reorganizing, I posted a picture on instagram, showing a small portion of the shelf now being empty.
Oh, that susanc269.... She cracks me up!
Sharing on instagram has opened up a whole new world of interaction with other fabric hoarders and quilt lovers.
If you are on instagram,I'd love to see you there! Follow me here.
Of course I knew more fabric was coming shortly. There was an order expected to arrive on Monday.
So on Saturday I also went shopping for some new storage bins.
It did hurt to spend money on bins instead of even more fabric, but it was so worth it!
Fresh from Fabric Spot, this bevy of beautiful new fabric was hand delivered on Monday by our friendly neighbourhood Canada Post rural route delivery lady. I thanked her with an early Christmas gift when I handed her this Christmas table runner in exchange.

Looking at these new purchases...
You might just say I went {hedge} HOG wild.
Or maybe you could say I went a little NUTS.
Either way.... I won't disagree. But I am not one little bit sorry either!
Time to dig in and make something new!
AFTER: This is how my sewing room looks.... For now!!!
Look out! I think I see some room left in a few of those bins!

Your before picture looks more organized than my typical after pictures. ;) Thank you for saving us from the fabric vortex!!
You have one lucky mail carrier! All your new fabrics are so amazing. That is a LOT of fabric at one time.
hahaha! I chuckled my way through your post because I, too, have ordered all of those fabrics, with the exception of the Norwegian Woods (which I clearly need!!!). fabric hoarder, not me!! Lol! X!
ps, thank you for saving us from the vortex. Way to take one for the team! ;0
Lucky mail carrier and beautiful fabrics - I look forward to seeing what you create with these. ^^
That was such a nice thing to do for the mail carrier ! I bet she was delightfully surprised. and OOOOOOOOOo Lorna, what a fabulous goodie box she brought you ! Now she knows what she's always delivering to you !
Hi Lorna! Great job with your sewing room! Oh, you have done Super shopping! I love all your NEW Fabrics. Fortunately I just ordered something - other wise I would be a little bit green here. x Teje
I wish my sewing area looked like this. I've got half a dozen projects all stacked together, a young cat [new to my home after I rescued her], who wiped out my four thread spool flats onto the floor and a bunch of bits and pieces scattered around my chair. I NEED to get it pulled together as nothing takes away the thrill of sewing than having to push stuff aside to do it!
You are so tidy! Mind you, if it makes more room for fabric...love your big new pile of stash :-)
I agree with Anne, your before is more organized than my after. You have some nice fabric there. Can't wait to see what you create with it. Debbie
Yummy. Looks very organized. I was organized a few months ago before I started buying fabric again. Guess I need to step up and put things away.
Such a lovely new collection. Do you have tricks when you order online to determine if different "lines" of fabric go together "colour wise"? I find that it's very difficult to tell colours. Just curious. Or do you order, and if you don't like the way the pieces go together, you change the project or swap something out and exchange from your collection ?
I love a good sewing room tidy. I just got a new sewing machine and I am excited for my husband to wake up so we can play at re-arranging my room today. It's going to be so much fun!
Nice work Lorna! You will just have to sew faster, use up more and then buy more, haha. I am working at cleaning my room little by little too!
You both are so very funny Lorna! I was following you on Instagram already - and am following susanc269 now too, thanks to you! Your rural delivery mail carrier must love you - what a wonderful gift!
All spic and span....:) Time to mess it up again. I can hardly get in my sewing room.
Thank you for the mention Lorna, it's great to have a bit of fun with it all. I also thank you for balancing out the fabric ozone layer that protects us all. I too will be SQUIRRELing away some fabric for the future .
A CORNucopia of delights. That's all I got folks.......till we chat again.
I love all those new additions! Sometimes its good to go wild/nuts/amazingly insane :)
I loved the peek into your space. I also like a clutter free room (house). Going nuts is much cuter than going batty. ;)
The first picture looked pretty good next to mine. I'm sewing in the dining room because my sewing table is so full You can't be sure there is as table. Your clean and well managed room puts me to shame. BUT, I'm officially retiring December the 23 of 2014. So maybe by Feb. My room will look as good as yours. I have this idea of not buying anymore fabric untill I use at least 3/4 of what I have. You Think?
Thanks for sharing all your new purchases. They're very pretty. I have heard of the fabled beast known as a clean sewing desk. I've never caught sight of one in my own house, but yours looks lovely! ;)
Wonderful fabric additions and I do still see some room for more :) I just bought some bookcases to help organize my sewing room so I feel your pain on paying money for fabric storage and organization.
Yay, great fabric addition. Have fun!
Love it! I love all these bins! Being organized is comforting for sure but making sure you have room for MORE fabric is even more important!!!
