And then came Monday!!!
The first two days of this week were spent preparing the binding and backing, basting, quilting and applying the binding to this entire set. Ahhh! It's so good to be back!
The table topper was quilted in a hexagonal spiral. The topper finished at approximately 30” across at the flat sides and 34” across from point to point.
The four place mats and the long runner were straight line quilted. The runner finished at approximately 60” x 12” and the place mats are approximately 20” x 12” each.
The backing fabric was something I had hanging around in my stash for a long time. It worked out to be just the right size to back and bind the entire set!
Project #2 ready for classes in November. I will be offering classes at my LQS {E&E's Cloth & Creations} in Newton, Ontario, just outside of Kitchener. If you are in the area and would be interested in taking a quilting class with me, I would love to hear from you!
If you are unable to attend, but would still like to make the Sweet Watermelon Table Decor set, the pattern can be found here.
Linking up to Finish it up Friday with Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts and TGIFF! hosted this week with M-R at Quilt Matters.

Just love this set. The backing is perfect. So exciting to hear about your upcoming classes. It would be so wonderful to be close enough to take a class with you.
wow the shocking pink and lime green work wonderfully togeher here just love these pieces
I love all your straight lines - something I need to practice - did you use a pen?
Adorable! Love the ants! Perfect!
Beautiful, Lorna! I just finished a table topper using your pattern and mine looks very amateurish, lol. I tried quilting the straight lines but mine didn't look nice so I ended up hand quilting. I'll be posting my watermelon on my blog, with a link back to you, in the near future. Enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend. :)
Morning Lorna, A really cute set. It took me a minute to realize the melons are triangles. You really are hooked on triangles aren't you. What are you going to come up with next, a Christmas of triangles?
Blessings and be safe,
Tonia
Cute Lorna. Of curse watermelon attracts ants ; )
I like the spiral quilting on the table topper, and thanks for sharing dimensions, I love knowing how big things finish out! :)
Oh I wish I was close enough to take your class. Have been fighting the urge to buy the pattern to add to my stack of want to makes because I will never get them all made. You do beautiful work.

What a great set! I especially love the hexagon spiral. I don't think I've seen it before, what a great idea! :)
Very cute set and it will be ready for next summer !! YAY!!
Those ants still give me itch, lol.
Nicely done. I'm sure your Mom appreciated your help too :0)
Happy Sewing
So fun! Love the ant fabric paired with the watermelons -- that's funny! Beautiful, Lorna. Glad to hear your mom is recuperating well!
I am glad to hear you mom is doing better. The colours look great together, Lorna! Very cute!
