Boxes-N-Bows

In spite of a power outage, I managed to get these Christmas table runners quilted and bound in two days.  The quilting is quite dense and was a little time consuming, but sew worth it!  This first runner finished at 14" x 49" after quilting.

The second runner finished at 14" x 70".  Both are now for sale in my Etsy shop.

I am sew impressed with the effect of the organic wavy matchstick quilting.  It helps the runners to lay nice and flat and adds a wonderful texture.  Looks like wind driven snow!

The backing is Tidings of Great Joy by Janet Wecker Frisch for Quilting Treasures.  This large scale script text print tells the history of the Christmas tree.  This neutral print goes well with all colour schemes.

Here is a great close up of the quilting - and my new labels from My Own Quilting Labels.   I love these cute little labels!

The binding is Winter Parade by Leanne Anderson for Henry Glass Fabrics.

After quilting, I cut the corners on a 45 degree angle to add a little interest and eliminate the boxy look.  I quite like those angled ends!  Sew happy with each of these runners!

One more pic... Just because!

The matchstick quilting really does look wonderful. I like how you describe it as windblown snow; wonderful imagery!

Lorna that is 2 cute fun runners! I love the quilting and still trying to let myself go to do it. I have worked hard for along time to make things more straight and symetrical that I find it hard to let go-any tips?

I love your organic quilting! It suits the forest prints so well. I can see how time consuming it must have been... But worth the effort! I'm keeping the idea in a corner of my head and will try it for sure.
