Good day everyone! Just a quick post to update my progress. Mostly pics!
Yesterday I finished quilting the neutral background and then trimmed the quilt.
As you can see in this pic, the quilt was so large I could not reach the center of the quilt while it was in the frame getting basted. So I pinned from underneath the quilt for the center.
Today I sewed on the binding. Next up - quilting the colourful blocks!
I am getting much better at applying the binding by machine, but wish that I had trimmed the batting and backing 1/8" larger than the top. The points at the edge of the quilt are just a bit cut off.
I cut my binding to 2 1/4".
I used a quilting stitch length of 4.0
Lots of learning still going on.... But I am really happy with the results of this project!

Stopping by from LGA, your quilt is looking great, I love the colours!
Love your quilt! You did a great job on it. It is quite a task quilting a large quilt on a domestic machine. I'm in the process now of quilting on my Janome. Come and check it out!
Looking good, Lorna.
Looks wonderful Lorna. I find it so challenging to quilt using my home sewing machine, but I much prefer to think I have done it all myself than pay someone else to use a longarm quilting machine.
Look at that quilt Lorna, loving the puffiness :)
Thank you, Laura!
Thank you sew much, VickiLorraine! It certainly is challenging... Especially on large quilts. But it is rewarding!
Look at you go! It looks fantastic. I been talking to a lot of quilters recently and they act like if you dont have a long arm you cant quilt something. You showed them! :)
You've done a good job on the HST's yourself.
this looks terrific! I love the bright pops of color!
You should be happy! It is very well done. Yeah for you.....
Oh wow, that's huge and it's looking good. Well done.
Beautiful quilt. What a great way of using up scrap fabrics.
Looking really good...can't believe how quickly you put this together. This will look great
Thank you, Rose! Glad you dropped in!
Awesome! Your quilting is perfect! Can't wait to see the colourful blocks done!
OMG, you are doing a great job. Thanks for the close-ups, I love the way you are quilting your project. No stitch in the ditch....I really like it!!
It's looking fantastic and very detailed.
Looks great and all that on your machine. Love the quilting I will have to try that straight line stitching!!
Nice quilt. Scrappy quilts are my favorites. A job well done.
Wow Lorna! That is quite an undertaking! It's huge! But your quilting looks fantastic! I can't wait to see it all done'1

Wow. I fear that I would get into such a pickle working with something so big. I love the calm colours that you have used.
Beautiful quilt Lorna. We have similar machines... Mine is a 3160. They look so tiny when quilting a large quilt on them. You did a fantastic job wit the binding. Looks awesome
Lovely progress on a beautiful quilt!
Your quilt is so soft and calming. I think it is fantastic. Congrats on the finish!
It's lovely!! I love the colours you used on it... so pretty! :)
I would be very intimated trying to quilt a quilt on my little sewing machine. You seem to do it so effortlessly. How is the back? I have only quilted a lap size quilt on the machine (I am a hand quilter) and some of it puckered. What kind of batting do you use?
Wow!! It turned out wonderful!!
Your quilt is so pretty! Wow, kudos to you for quilting such a large quilt on your machine. Glad you are finding a way to make it work!
Hi Lorna! It is so wonderful! I love the straight line quilting here! It just fits perfectly!!!

Thank you, Esther! I sure do appreciate that you have been following along and cheering us on. It sure means a lot to me!
The quilting really suits nicely! Great binding too, so straight.
Your straight line quilting looks great on the quilt. Nice job!!
Lovely quilt! Your quilting on your domestic looks better than my quilting on my long arm! Seriously, I can NOT do straight.....but I couldn't on my domestic either, so maybe it's me. lol
