Pigs in a Blanket with Hen and Chicks

These little piggies didn't go to the market. They stayed home in bed!

There is a series of different ideas for the Pigs in a Blanket. This one is with Hen and Chicks.

Although I was highly tempted to go with solids for this quilt, I used prints for everything except the white sheet behind the pillows and for the grey background on the quilt.

The backing is Novella Finnelopy in Aqua by Valori Wells for Free Spirit. I found this in the bottom drawer of my stash. It was the perfect size and it feels good to use it up. Plus it's a great match to the binding and it looks so cute!

The quilting was performed using a plain white thread on top and in the bobbin. The binding is Alison Glass Sun Print Link Yonder from Clinton Modern Fabrics.

The "Pigs in a Blanket with Hen and Chicks" quilt finished at 35" x 40"
and was the 70th use of my 2nd edition of 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.

Love the layout, and what a super backing. Then the binding finishes it off perfectly.

I had the silly thought that it would make a great wedding quilt, in queen size.

You're doing such a wonderful job documenting which fabric & it's name and by which designer. I'm lucky to remember the pattern & it's designers name and sometimes I have to check that several times.
Love your piggies :)

This a fun series to watch grow!! I adore your backing too! I especially love when you can find the perfect, big, bold print that can stand on it's own for a backing!! It is like a "stealth" spotlight for a favorite fabric, to me anyway! xo!

This is my favourite Pigs in a Blanket so far! I have to say, my eye was roaming around the quilt looking for a chick that would have it's head down looking for feed. This may be my pick for what to make for the next baby in the family, although we're not expecting any in the near future...that I know of :)

Another great one, Lorna! I love how the piggies have their little arms (legs?) outside of the blanket. So cute!
