Wee Little Bird quilted table runner

Last week I shared my applique version of birds in a row.
Today we have a sampling of the pieced variety.

These wee little birds are now a finished quilted table runner!

Love birds perhaps?

Each little bird block finishes at 4" across by 3.5" tall.
One looking down....

And one looking up.

The grey print is by Moda. The red is from Robert Kaufman's Fusion collection and is one of my all time favourite prints. The black for the eyes and the yellow for the beaks are Black Tweed Dot and Yellow Tweed Dot from the Bear Essentials 2 collection by P&B Textiles. The background is Kona Algeria. All the fabrics used in this project were found in my stash and were chosen to coordinate with this festive backing fabric.

Then I quilted this runner with my walking foot in parallel lines with a gentle curve using a variegated Fantastico thread on top and in the bobbin.

For the binding, I once again referred to my Flanged Binding Tutorial to make sure I had the correct measurements for the widths of the main and accent fabrics. It's been quite a while since I made a flanged binding.

"Wee Little Birds" finished at approximately 12" x 40"
and was the 57th use of my 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.

Looking for a quick Christmas gift idea....
You can find the Wee Little Bird runner pattern here!

What a sweet runner Lorna, especially the one looking up, the other down, love that. Great choice of fabrics--don't you just love going shopping in your stash when it all works out?! (I may speak from experience, but I've also had the other: when you do not have the right shade of a particular colour...grr) That flanged binding is beautiful! Haven't done that forever, good reminder!

You could do so many fun things with this pattern to customize it. Olive branch in the birds mouth, or berries, or a little worm even!

Oh wow, love these too. I'm gonna make a bird table runner just because of you, Lorna. Now I just have to decide which one I feel like making...probably the pieced one. Gonna use fall color palette I believe...thanks for sharing and inspiring...
