WoW-E! {a custom quilt}

Custom WoW-E! quilt 51" x 61"

This quilt was truly a labour of love and is now on it's way to the new owner.  But it is not traveling alone. WoW-E! #3 is a custom order toddler quilt, ordered from my Etsy shop.

Custom WoW-E! quilt on the well house door

Plus this special little doll quilt made to match!  Wider borders were added to the top and bottom to bring this little quilt to an approximate 22" x 24" size.

And finally this matching Woodland Friends birdie flannel toddler pillow case size 14" x 19".  With envelope style closure on the back.

I just had to make the dolly a little pillow, too.  That was not part of the request.  But it just had to be.  Both pillowcases were made using the French seam method.  No fraying or stray threads.  This doll pillow is slightly larger than the one made using my doll pillowcase tutorial.

During all those hours spent piecing and pressing, I thought about how much I would like to make this quilt again.  No.  Really.  And when I do, these blocks are going to be in an on point setting.  And the quilt would be 57" x 71".  Maybe I should go larger?

WoW-E! in SOLIDS on point - 57" x 71"

This is my third time making a quilt using the WoW-E! pattern.  Well.... Three and a half if you count the doll quilt.  Hahaha!  And I am looking forward to making my fourth using the on point setting.  The on point setting was inspired by the photo of the original quilt below.

This custom order quilt was inspired by both of the WoW-E! quilts I made previously.  The same fabrics used in the original WoW-E! quilt, plus a few extras, were used to make the 30 main blocks.  And the 4 found in the matching doll quilt.

The original quilt used only 20 blocks and finished at 41" x 51".  The 30 blocks used in this custom quilt allowed for an additional row and column, and brought the size up to 51" x 61".

Kona cotton solids in Aqua, Breakers, Cypress, Asparagus, Green Tea, Lemon, Daffodil, Sunny, Salmon, Mango, Melon, and Punch were used to make the main blocks.  Also included was one Coal block with Black center.  Snow was used for the background and Silver for the sashing and borders. Coal was used for the main block centers and for the cornerstones as well as the binding.

Among the requests inspired by the second WoW-E! {redo} quilt, was this adorable Woodland Friends flannel backing from Northcott Fabrics.  And the quilting style...  Spiral quilting!

Here are a few close up shots showing the details of this custom order WoW-E! quilt.

These quilt finishes were the 27th, 28th and 29th use of my 100 labels ordered from

Lorna, this quilt is so beautiful, absolutely amazing and I love it ♥

The colors are so bright and shining and the whole quilt is really a masterpiece!
I (as a beginner in quilting) cannot imagine how someone can sew this accurate a quilt like this ... with all those tiny pieces... Wonderful!

I also cannot imagine how it is possible to quilt this big thing in spirals under a sewing machine like yours?? And I wish I could have looked over your shoulder while quilting it. :-)

Thank you for the inspiration and also for the elephant parade qal - it's such a big fun :-)

Its spectacular. I thought I loved the squiggle quilting on the original, but the spiral quilting is out of this world. Plus the doll quilt? Amazing finishes!!

Beautiful quilt - Lovely colors. I can see why you'd want to make it again - and again! Love the circular quilting. I have thought of that, but unsure how I would do it and keep it all uniform. Again, Beautiful!!
