I have two finishes to share today!
First up is this precious little Country Lanes baby quilt I started by accident. While preparing for my new series, Top 10 Tips for New Quilters, I needed to practice some quick and easy piecing methods to provide pictures for the posts. And I got carried away! I was hoping for some outdoor photos today, but it is so windy the top just about got carried away, too!
I chose two prints from my stash, a blue floral and a geometric white tone on tone. This little top measures approximately 37" x 52" and went together quickly. I have not decided yet, what you use for a backing. I am leaning toward a light grey print.
During this Wednesday's Let's Bee Social post, I also shared my second finish for the week, my remake of the Fox & Friends quilt. You can see the very first Fox & Friends original finish post here.
Why am I doing a remake?
In preparation for upcoming classes this fall!
I will be offering classes at my LQS! I have chosen to offer this project because this quilt pattern has been my all time best seller. And since my original quilt sold, I had to do a remake to display at the quilt shop.
I chose this darling minky print for the backing. These bright eyed owls are from Timeless Treasures. It is super soft and O-Sew-Cute!
I am still not 100% sure how I am going to quilt this....
- Straight lines along the diagonal seams?
- Organic wavy quilting side to side?
- Or zig-zag quilting top to bottom?
This will be my first time quilting with minky.
Wish me luck!
Linking up to Finish it up Friday with Amanda Jean of Crazy Mom Quilts and TGIFF! hosted this week with Laura at Quokka Quilts.
Keep On Quilting On!

Oh, love a good Irish chain quilt! So darling. And congrats on the classes :)
I really like the colors in your Country Lane quilt! It is so modern. And your fox and friends back is really fun. I can't wait to see both of them quilted.
I love Irish chain quilts; thanks for the photo. Good luck with your Foxes no.2
This is really cute. Very fresh, clean and simple in design. Fair warning, I linked to your Boxes and Bows tutorial on my blog today. I really love that block. I hope you don't mind.
All so wonderful Lorna! The students in your class are in for a treat!
Two finishes? The kids are hardly out the door ; )
Minky needs to be spray basted well. It's gorgeous when done. Lovely quilts
For something started by accident it sure is adorable!
Love your colors in country roads. I still have my quilting room stacked with unpacked boxes and "where an I going to put this?" items. How do you get so much done in a short time? Can't wait to see how you quilt the foxes and how you feel about quilting the minky.
The Country Lanes baby quilt is sweet. I adore the colours. I'm a big fan of your fox quilt so it's not surprising that I would love it but that backing makes me like it even more. Good luck with the class, not that you'll need it. If only I lived closer........
I really like simple color block quilts, Lorna, and Country Lanes looks great!
This will be an awesome class, I wish I lived closer :). Quilting is one of the hardest choices, everything else always comes easy.
These are pretty cute. Good luck with quilting!
Congratulations on teaching a class at your LQS. How awesome is that!
Love your fox quilt, perfect backing too. I have many many quilts with minky backing. Remember just keep the quilting simple for minkies! Its just fabulous to work with.
I'm terrified of quilting with minky on the back- I'd go with the straight lines. Wish I was closer to take your class!
The fox quilt is adorable.
Not that you need it, good luck with minky! You do it all with such excellence!
I have only tried minky once and it is going to be a while before I attempt it again, it seemed to keep bunching up on me. I would to hear any tips you have from trying it :)
I love that country lanes quilt! It makes me want to ditch school, run home from the library and make one myself haha
I have quilted with minky and really liked it! I look forward to seeing your foxy finish
