Let's Bee Social #73

Although my works in progress are all about solids lately, for those of you who prefer prints... Good news! There will be some projects in prints coming up soon. Did you see my Mother's Day haul I shared in my Sunday Stash report? Some of those are destined to become the backings for upcoming quilts. But the first luscious pile I shared in that post is at the top of my list for what to do next. As soon as my current projects are complete, that is.

Another sure sign of Spring. Some dusting and rearranging of my sewing room has allowed me to accommodate more large storage bins. And now I have the ability to keep my WIP's safe and sound - but not out of sight, out of mind - while I switch off to work on something else.

The photo above shows in it's entirety.

Rarely in the past have I been one to work on more than one project at a time. But this week I find myself working on a few wip's.  And enjoying the process. When making a whole lot of hst's or repetitive blocks, it's so nice to take a break and work on something else for a change.

I have been toying around with my Squirrel block designs. And came up with a ultra graphic baby quilt layout using Kona Black and Kona Coal squirrels. It's called Squirrels in the Park and, when finished, the instructions will be added to the Erin's Squirrels pattern introduced in this post.

Are you on Instagram? I posted the following work in progress shot last week.

My other project on the go...
Two-tone Little Bloom blocks made with - you guessed it! - Kona Cotton Solids. This pattern was previously made using prints and solids together. You can see the first Little Blooms quilt here. I wanted to make it again using only solids this time. And make a much larger version. More on the plans for those Little Blooms later this week.

Instagram is something relatively new to me. Since my daughter got an upgraded iphone, I inherited her old one and have been enjoying the IG online quilting community ever since. It's so much fun to pop in throughout the day and see what everyone is sharing in 'real time'. If you have an IG account, let me know in the comments or tag me online @sewfreshquilts. I would love to come and visit you on Instagram and see what you are up to!

Now Let's PARTY!!!!
What's new with you?

I'm just waking up in Wales and you've already made me smile! Love the M'stash logo ... it tickled me!
And the squirrels? Perfect block for a new quilt I'm going to make. Thank you for continuing to share and inspire :)

I'm feeling a little tired just looking at all you've accomplished this week. Love the M'Stash logo... perhaps a link-up in the making?

P.S. I much prefer the grey squirrels. They seem so much more exotic to me, as we don't have them in NS!

I just entered the contest... I hope I win. :-D
Your fabric stash looks superb. I need to clean mine up. I will.
Of course I love the petals. and the birdies,
Those squirrels are really sweet. This reminds me of the Doc Martin repeat episode I watched last night, with the crazy guy with PTSD has his imaginary friend (a red squirrel, very large) and he needs meds. hahaha
I love everything you make, Your set up in your sewing office looks superb

"M'Stash" Hahahaha - you never fail to do something fun Lorna! Such as all the great projects you are cooking up... Wow have you been busy! I follow you on instagram too, but never get over there anymore, not since my iPad went defunct.

Welcome to ADD sewing, where many projects at one time reign! It is wonderful to put a project aside for later and switch it up from cutting to piecing, quilting, etc. Your organized stash bins make this easy to do.

Wow you are so organized. You must only buy fabric for projects as your stash is very small compared to most. My weakness is fat quarters. I have a four shelf book shelf with nothing but fat quarters on it. I won't tell you about the closet full of bins and the large shelf of yardage. I also have two bins of precuts under my sewing table. I think I am addicted to fabric. Debbie

Your stash looks so organized! I should really spend some time on mine. I just keep hoping I will some day get most of it sewn up so it doesn't look like such a daunting task!

It's fitting that you shared your cute squirrel pattern on the same day that you shared how you have your own stash and projects "squirreled away." Thanks for sharing your system!

I've recently put my works in progress in a cart with baskets . It's from Ikea and it has wheels so I can move it around my little room. It's nice to have them nearby isn't it.
