I can hardly believe that summer is already on it's way out....
I miss it already!
The kids returned to a new school year yesterday.
My daughter is in her final year of high school and my son is entering Grade 11.
Time sure does fly!
And now that fall is on our doorstep, it's back to visiting guilds and providing trunk shows and workshops. Today I am preparing for my show at the Halton Quilters' Guild in Burlington, ON tomorrow night.
I spent most of my weekend designing a Flower quilt and writing up the pattern instructions.
And then I spent a little time shopping at Mad About Patchwork and came up with this....
Flowers in Mad About Patchwork - 70" x 90" |
Using the fabric choices that come with the EQ7 program, this is how my original plan looked...
I also tried it out in a couple of Northcott Fabrics' Essentials lines...
And then I adjusted the design to allow for this square quilt option...

Flowers in Northcott Toscana - 70" x 90" |

I also chose my fabrics for the MOD Bear Paw QAL.
I have everything cut out and ready to sew!

It all looks great, Lorna! I'm excited to see the QAL quilts progress and the new design is very lovely. It will be a fun quilt to enjoy on cold, wintery days. The promise of spring flowers is always such a boost for me in the middle of winter.
oh your flower quilt is gorgeous, and very you! I look forward to seeing this pattern develop over the cooler months.
Love the new flower quilt. Raally fresh and summery
Beautiful design, Lorna! And really the right thing to make in autumn and winter)) My favorite color way is the first one, in case you're interested ;))
The flower quit is so cute. She will bring a touch of spring to the dark dreary days of winter. Blessings, Gretchen
Love your new flower quilt Lorna!
Love the flower quilt. It's a perfect project to capture the last of the summer color before autumn gets a good hold on the flora and fauna. I really like the blue version of your MOD Bear Paw, it's very pretty.
Love each and every flower in this quilt - and with the added butterflies - it is special. To enjoy this reminder of a garden - without the humidity :) - in those winter months would be wonderful! Yes, back to school is a new chapter again for everyone - hope your two have a wonderful year!!
You amaze me with how often you come up with a new pattern!! The flowers quilt is just gorgeous!
I appreciate seeing your ideas in different colorways.
I LOVE your new quilt design!
sounds like it is getting closer to the time for an empty nest for you with the kids growing up. Love your new design

LOVE the flower garden in bloom!
Lorna, I LOVE the blooming flowers design. Do you plan to make a pattern for this design? If so, this one goes on my list. Or, let me know when you are ready for pattern testing. It is just adorable. :-)
I LOVE the flower quilt and seeing it in different backgrounds and colours is awesome! What did we do before computers eh? LOL Can't wait to make it for my grand daughter :-).
Hugs, Jacqui
Love the flower quilt! It's so cheerful. This would be nice to make in January or February when we are all longing for spring.
Love the new quilt pattern. Nice happy colors to brighten up those cold days. I prefer the rectangle pattern over the square. Have a great day.

Another gorgeous quilt design. This one would be wonderful to work on when we are knee deep in the wintertime blues.
Love the Square flower garden pattern - can't wait to try that one - I've decided on my fabrics for the Modern bear paw quilt - now just to decide on a size - lol!
Well, I have to say that this quilt leaves me asking just one question... do you ever sleep? Wow, I know that having the kids in school really helps with getting things done, but this is kind of hyped up enegizer bunny style!?! Great pattern... always looking forward to what's new with you.
I love your little flower garden! Very pretty!
I love this newest flower quilt! It's so fun to see the sky, clouds, and different flowers!

Dear Lorna, as always, (I do read your blog posts all the time, I just do not have time to express my excitement in writing)
You have made so many beautiful things. I am always so excited to see what you are making.
You are such an inspiration to me
I really like this flower quilt. Beautiful design Lorna!
Your flower design is great. I'm amazed that you continue to think up such amazing designs.
Your garden quilt is really pretty. I want to do the bear paw SO BADLY!! but I just don't have time. Someday, sigh.
Your flower and butterflies are so cute! I especially love the square version. Thank you for hosting the linkup.
Seeing that you do trunk shows, I sent an email to our programme co-ordinator suggesting you....turns out you're already booked to speak to us next June!
It is hard to believe that summer is almost over. The sound of the school buses bringing the kids home still makes me happy even though mine are off on new adventures.
Lorna, I love this nee flower design! Another first class winner! It is fun to see your color variations too.
I love the Mod Bear Paw! Pretty ♥
