Let's Bee Social # 125

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social!

First off..... I would like to THANK YOU for all the words of kindness shared in the comments from my Instagram post. It is quite clear to me that I have some pretty amazing friends out there - in this great big global world of the online quilting community - of which I am so proud to be a part of. Thank you!

This happened day before yesterday.....

Baby Raccoons were born! So fun and so tiny! These are half sized blocks that finish at 5" wide by 4" tall. I made them into a mini wall quilt to match the big quilt.

No. These are not paper pieced.
A little challenging, but doable.

You ever get that feeling.....

Like someone is watching you?
I've had one of those weeks. For sure!

My only regret with this project is that I wish there was more contrast between the black part of the eyes and the black part of the mask on these cuties. You can see on the orange block that the eyes consist of a white square and a black square to give the appearance that the raccoons are all looking to the right. But on the black and grey blocks, from a distance, it just looks like an offset white square.

Organic Wavy Line Quilting.....

COMPLETE!

Hoping to get some outside photos today for my post on Friday when I will share all the details.

Meanwhile the Raccoon pattern has been added to my shop.

It's your turn for Show and Tell!!!

Oh, these raccoons are soooo cute! I must admit, I've seen the problem, but only after mentioning it. Maybe you can make the black part of the eyes the next time in different shades of dark green, blue and brown. That's not originally, but it will bring some contrast to the faces. And I like the feeling that only one of the raccoons is looking in a different way because by using black it seems, they are looking to the front.
Greetings from Germany,
Rike

These are super cute! I love the contrasting block.

I'm definitively in love with your designs, all !

You've done it again Lorna, another winner. I have to agree with Rike, the fact that the contrasting raccoon looks like he is looking elsewhere adds to the cuteness.

Those eyes!!! I love the contrasting one, but when they are all in a row, with that super wavy quilting, another lovely finish. I added my link, a wall hanging that flew its way from NZ to California last week .

Wow! Your raccoons are astonishing all assembled together. And I love the addition of your orange one. You're right for the eyes, but you know what? I find it interesting this way as it seems that the orange raccoon has spied something. He's trying to watch without raising the other's awareness.

Such a fun pattern! The raccoons look great. Adding the orange one was a perfect touch.

Lorna, you seem to be the master of little bits in a quilt block. So cute! Perhaps for your next go around, you could use a lighter brown, so there would be enough contrast for the eyes to show up better.

Congrats on the finish!

So cute! Having just the orange one appear to be looking to the side is interesting, the others all seem to be looking at the viewer. A brown eye color would give you a bit more detail. But, I think the quilt is wonderful as it is.

Love the sideways look on the orange raccoon. Very serious looking but still adorable.
You rock, Lorna!!!

Lorna, I see what you mean about the darker fabrics needing more contrast, but the orange guy makes up for it in every way! They are adorable!

Cute baby raccoon!

When you sew with pieces so small, do you starch them first? I'm about to tackle a small mini with small pieces and thinking about this. I've never done it before.

Oh Lorna....ya know I love your style...and that little sneaky fox among the raccoons absolutely CRACKS ME UP!!! I'm literally LAUGHING OUT LOUD! :)V

Lorna your creativity is amazing and inspiring! Your raccoon quilt is another really great pattern! So much fun and it instantly brings a smile to my face when I see it!

I think it's fine that the dark raccoon's eyes don't contrast unless you look closely. That just makes them look like real raccoons, always waddling around with that gleam shining out from their masks. You did a great job capturing that look. No wonder you felt like you were being watched, LOL.

Soooo tiny and sweet.

The boys and I all LOVE your Raccoon quilt! I was thinking it would be fun to put one of your Doggone Cute blocks in with the coons (a hound, you know!) and one of the boys thought a possum block would also be perfect! Lol! Always so many possibilities with your cute critters!!!

The raccoon may be my favorite of your animal quilts Lorna. We have tons of raccoons and, in real life, I really don't like them because they make such messes of our yard - however in quilty life - I love them! You have such a touch with animal portrayal in your blocks - they are adorable.

Pretty adorable quilt Lorna! I especially love our mini!! I had to really look and look to figure out what you meant about the raccoon eyes, and finally 'got' it. I think it's just fine; Bella, my cat, suggests making another one with blue-eyed raccoons ;-)

Lorna these are so adorable! I cannot believe they aren't paper piece either. So complicated!

Super cute! I have never really done faces or animals before (with the exception of my butterfly experiment last weekend) but I just might have to try these cute guys.
As a new blogger, I have also never done a link up before.
I really, really wanted to join your Let's Bee Social party, but I totally failed to take photos for a post today. :(
Do you have a "tips" list for doing your link party? I love the concept and really want to be a part.

These are the cutest little Raccons ever!!! After I finish my dog gone quilt I'll put this on the the long list of mine!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The racoons are incredibly cute and I really like that the orange stands out for not only being orange but the sideways look - contrasts so well with the black and is such fun!

These little critters are pretty cute, I think I'm kind of partial to the orange one. Congrats on another great pattern!

It sounds like you're disappointed in the way your raccoons' eyes came out, but when I looked at the quilt, their eyes look just the way I've seen them when they are startled by lights at night. Or when they're staring you down daring you to scare them away. I'm really enjoying your series of quilts with a bunch of similar animals and one interloper.

These raccoons, like all your animals, have such character. Love the orange amongst the black/ grey ones. I recently did one of your cute dog designs for a charity quilt. Such beautifully clear instructions. Must take forever! But appreciated by those of us a bit daunted by lots of fabric pieces!

I'm not much of a fan of raccoons in real life, but yours are so cute I'm tempted to give them a try. I love the mini!

I also agree with Rike - I wouldn't have noticed the issue with the eyes if you hadn't mentioned it. Your little Raccoons are absolutely lovely! What a brilliant effect, and the odd one out . . . just brilliant. Well done!
