{Another} Christmas Poinsettia Quilted Table Runner

It's REALLY beginning to look a lot MORE like... Christmas!

This is my fourth finish using the blocks in the free Have A Jolly Little Christmas quilt along. You can read all about that free quilt along hereThis block is the 11" square Christmas Poinsettia. This was an oooops! Late night designer problems.

The Christmas Poinsettia block was the last one in a series of 15 blocks designed for the Have A Jolly Little Christmas quilt along. They are all 12" square blocks. I was working in EQ7 to design the blocks and to show how they would look. And I goofed! This block is actually an 11" square. And I did not realize my mistake until I went to put the actually fabric block together. So of course, I wanted to finish these blocks and make the runner... It's just not really part of the Have A Jolly Little Christmas quilt along.

The first project I shared was a Have A Jolly Little Christmas sampler quilt made using a variety of blocks, which can be seen here. The second project here, was made using a Holly & Berries block design in repeat. And the ACTUAL 12" Christmas Poinsettia runner was shown here.

When it came time for quilting, I went with my usual organic wavy lines my husband had just gotten home from the midnight shift and wanted to sleep, so I quilted a few straight lines along the seams, thinking it would be quicker. I used Ghost White Magnifico thread by Superior Threads on top and plain white Guetermann in the bobbin. I used to do A LOT of quilting in white. And the beginning of this year will have a lot again.

The backing is Winter Garden by Susan Winget for Steele Creek Studio, which I found two years ago at Fabric.com. I fell in love with this print and bought it when it was on sale. I bought A LOT. So you'll be seeing more of this too. Sound REALLY familiar?

The striped binding is Winter Celebration by Sandy Lynam Clough for Red Rooster Fabrics and is a nice match to the reds in the backing. Those spots on the stripes are actually silver. And these fun stripes make me think of candy canes!

This OTHER "Christmas Poinsettia" quilted table runner finished at 15" x 39"
and was the 18th use of my 2nd edition of 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.

My first finished project made for the Have A Jolly Little Christmas quilt along can be seen here. The second finished project can be found here. And the third finished project can be found here.

  2. It's so easy to forget to change the block size in EQ7, but this misfit size blocks made a beautiful little table runner. I'm all ready and waiting for tomorrow's instructions. The only thing to do is figure out what color my bow will be :)

  6. I'm shocked...no organic wavy lines. LOL The block size may be wrong, but it's a great finish.
