Christmas Bow

This is the third quilt block for the "Have a Jolly Little Christmas" quilt along!

Christmas Bow is a 12" quilt block.

Made using traditional piecing methods.




Sew Fresh Quilts – Christmas Bow
Finished size of block is 12” x 12”

Fabric Require.
Single Block
White
3/8 yard
Dark Bow
1/4 yard
Light Bow
1/8 yard









Read through entire instructions before beginning.  Press all seams open as you go.




STOP: Stitch, Trim, Open & Press. To perform the STOP method, align a square (A) or rectangle (C) on the corner of the unit (B) with right sides facing together. Draw a diagonal line and sew along this diagonal line. Trim a ¼” seam. Finger press the seam open and then press with a hot iron. Pressing the seams open to reduce bulk is recommended.

Step 1:  Sew the Dark Bow (B) rectangle to the bottom of the Light Bow (H) rectangle, then sew the Dark Bow (A) rectangle to the end. Use the STOP method to add the Dark Bow (E) and (J) squares. Use the STOP method to add the White (D) square. Make one facing left and one facing right.








Step 2: Use the STOP method to add the White (E) square on the Dark Bow (G) rectangle. Make one facing left and one facing right. Sew these onto the top of the units made previously. Use the STOP method to add the White (J) squares. Sew the White (F) rectangle to the Light Bow (E) square. Arrange the units and sew together.






Step 3: Use the STOP method to add the Dark Bow (K) rectangle on the White (K) rectangle, then add the other Dark Bow (K) rectangle to the other end. Use the STOP method to add the White (J) squares on each end.




Step 4: Use the STOP method to add the Dark Bow (C) square on the White (F) rectangle, then to add the Dark Bow (E) square to the other end. Make one facing left and one facing right. Sew the Dark Bow (F) rectangles on top of these units and then sew the White (L) rectangle between them.





Step 5: Arrange and sew the units together to complete the block. Block should measure 12.5” square.

  1. I like the bow, and as I like making bags, this can go onto a pocket or the front. Such good instructions, I hope I can manage to get one done this week.
