SHOP HOP Quilt Along - INTRODUCTION

Most of the snow has melted away from our neighbourhood.

But the view out my sewing room window was FROSTY!!!

As you can see in my SHOP HOP Baby quilt sample, the SHOPS all feature frosty, snow covered roof tops. The same snowy fabric is used throughout the quilt on the roof tops, windowsills and doorsteps.

When I shared the news of my recent finish and upcoming quilt along SHOP HOP, I had a lot of people asking me about the backing fabric that I used. It was a black and white print remnant I picked up from Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe in Stratford Ontario Canada, by Debra Gabel for Timeless Treasures.

I am finished testing the complete pattern and am putting together my FULL size version now!

My SHOP blocks are all pinned up around my sewing room.

As you can see by the following photo, I got a little side tracked because of my Selvage Expedition.

That black and orange block has now become a quilted pillow.

I wonder if anyone would make their shops using selvages?

Maybe I will.

Here again you can see that my selvage projects overlapped the SHOP HOP quilting in the queue. The backing for the SHOP HOP quilt has the center seam completed and the wintery binding too.

In case you, missed it, you can see my Selvage Expedition - Spool Blocks post here.

There is a FREE tutorial for making your own selvage spools!

To be clear, I have no affiliation with any of the shops I have provided links for below. These are just fabrics I found online and thought you might like some suggestions for backing fabrics.

For my Full size quilt, I ordered ordered fabric for the backing from
A Material Girl Fabric Shop in Milton Ontario Canada

Collection: Snow Day by Lewis & Irene

From the same collection, this Winter Village print is also available in Icy Blue...

And I chose this awesome snowy print for the rooftops as well as for the binding. It is called Birch Texture from the Sheltering Snowman collection by Barb Tourtillotte for Henry Glass Fabrics.
