This Dog Gone Cute quilt makes me so happy!
This quilt was made in preparation for my first trip to Houston Quilt Market this fall. I have made this quilt previously using a dark grey solid for the background, which you can read about here.
Making the Dog Gone Cute again, I wanted to have a lighter background, so I used Square Dance in grey from the Hopscotch collection by Jamie Fingal for RJR Fabrics. Then I chose blue, black, green and orange prints randomly from my stash for the faces on these dogs.
Of course the quilting is my signature organic wavy lines from edge to edge, done using my walking foot. A light grey thread was used both on top and in the bobbin to blend with the background and backing fabrics. I used to apologize for continuing to use the same old quilting method for every one of my quilts. But no more. I have had so many people ask me about this method and I love the quick, easy and completely stress free finish this method provides.
Binding is a solid black, which provides a strong frame and matches the dogs' noses and eyes.

ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and cute pups! Someday, I will get myself some labels.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Especially love the little orange puppy in the centre. Beautiful background and backing for this quilt. Such a favorite pattern of mine.
ReplyDeleteAdorable dogs! The background lets the dogs shine, nice choice.

ReplyDeleteA cute bunch of puppies. Have fun in Houston.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Will you have a booth in Houston, or are you going for one of the fabric companies? Either way, it's exciting, and these puppies will be a huge draw.
ReplyDeleteLove those puppies and the quilting! I am going to try that quilting design soon.
ReplyDeleteThe puppies look cute in those prints. Never apologize for your quilting! It is fabulous and harder than it looks, at least it was for me to get those organic curves.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt so much...I love it so much that I'm making another one for myself. I've made two of the smaller sized quilts and have decided to make the big one for my dogs and I to snuggle on. This one will look great hanging at Market!
ReplyDeleteJust as pretty as the original!
ReplyDeleteNice
ReplyDeleteVery cute version! I really like this lighter gray with the subtle print.
ReplyDeleteI love the two grey fabrics that you have. They have such great texture. I loved the hedgehogs on the orange fabric, so adorable. Have a great time in Houston!
ReplyDeleteThe dogs are still cute. How exciting that you'll be attending Quilt Market. Good luck with preparations.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt should make you happy... really great color combos. I especially love the Carolyn Friedlander accents.
