Although I don't usually don't do improv, I enjoyed making the wonky slab blocks quilting along with all those who are participating in this worldwide goal of making 1000 quilts for the Ronald McDonald House Childrens' Charity.
The backing and binding are Doe Eyed from the Moon Shine collection by Tula Pink for Free Spirit. And I added a strip of Northcott's Artisan Spirit to the edge to make the backing wide enough. I love the bees on the backing and binding for this BEE block quilt!
Both of these quilts were mailed off last month to be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House Children's Hospitals. It is my hope that all of the blocks and quilts we are making will bring a little joy and comfort to children in need.
Are you joining me for the Sew Fresh Quilt Bee?!!!
I'm happy to have you join the hive! To read all about the Sew Fresh Quilt Bee click here.
Special thanks to Rita of Fabric Please! for providing some prizes for those who participate.
To recap.... the SEW FRESH QUILT BEE will run until May 17, 2017. The deadline for mailing blocks and unfinished tops is May 30th. Mailing information can be found here. You DON'T have to be Canadian to participate. But you do have to be prepared to mail your blocks to this Canadian address.
On Monday, May 29th, I will be announcing the winning participants who have shared their progress. You can join in the linky party each time you have made blocks. You can link up from a blog post, Flickr photo, or Instagram post. You still have plenty of time to join in the PARTY!
You may not do improv but you have nailed the wonkiness factor in your blocks Lorna. Thats a beautiful shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! The blues throughout really add to the whole quilt - love your backing and quilting!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know where I can order some of the Canada 150 fabrics from this line? I am in the states and having a hard time finding it. Would love to make a ,ink quilt for my Canadian mother.
ReplyDeleteLove this one too! SO happy and bright! I HAVE to get at this and Sarah's H2H quilts this week!
ReplyDeleteShelly, Sew Sisters Quilt Shop has Canada fabric.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your improv quilt, even if it's not something that comes naturally to you. (It doesn't come naturally to me either!). I also love the color scheme of aqua, red, and black but I think my favorite part is the tiny little maple leaves that are found in the red fabrics. It just adds such a nice touch and just makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteeeeek I'm so sorry I put links in to this weeks's party by mistake on this post! I can't figure out how to remove them, could you do it for me so I can put them in lets be social instead??? Thanks and sorry for the mistake.
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific quilt! I love the colors you chose, and you've really got your Wonk on :) There will certainly be some very grateful recipients for this quilt.
ReplyDeleteVery Pretty. Love the colors.
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks! Your improv is amazing! And I love the colours!
