It is NOT necessary to purchase the pattern in order to participate. Santa's On His Way is a 12" quilt block.
Made using traditional piecing methods.
Finished size of block is 12” x 12”
Read through entire instructions before beginning. Press all seams open as you go.
STOP: Stitch, Trim, Open & Press. To perform the STOP method, align a square (A) or rectangle (C) on the corner of the unit (B) with right sides facing together. Draw a diagonal line and sew along this diagonal line. Trim a ¼” seam. Finger press the seam open and then press with a hot iron. Pressing the seams open to reduce bulk is recommended.
Step 1: Sew the White (Z) rectangles between the Beige (Z) rectangles. Sew the Beige (A) and Blue (A) squares together. Sew The (ZZZ) on top of the (AA) units and then sew the Beige (H) rectangle between them.
Step 2: Sew the Red (B) square between the Beige (C) rectangles. Use the STOP method to add the Beige (B) squares on the corners of the White (E) rectangle. Use the STOP method to add the White (C) rectangles on the ends of the Pink (D) rectangle.
Step 3: Sew the units together and add the White (K) rectangle on the bottom.

Step 1: Sew the White (Z) rectangles between the Beige (Z) rectangles. Sew the Beige (A) and Blue (A) squares together. Sew The (ZZZ) on top of the (AA) units and then sew the Beige (H) rectangle between them.
Step 2: Sew the Red (B) square between the Beige (C) rectangles. Use the STOP method to add the Beige (B) squares on the corners of the White (E) rectangle. Use the STOP method to add the White (C) rectangles on the ends of the Pink (D) rectangle.
Step 3: Sew the units together and add the White (K) rectangle on the bottom.
Step 4: Use the STOP method to add the Background (A) squares on the corners of the White (G) square. Then add the Background (C) rectangle to the side.
Step 5: Use the STOP method to add the White (K) rectangles to the Beige (J) rectangles, then to add the Background (G) squares to the bottom.
Step 6: Use the STOP method to add the Background (M) squares to the Red (N) rectangle.
Step 7: Along with the White (L) rectangle and Background (N) rectangle, arrange and sew the units together to complete the block. Block should measure 12.5” square.

Follow Steps 1 to 3 above.......
Step 4: Use the STOP method to add the White (K) rectangles to the Beige (J) rectangles. Use the STOP method to add the Background (B) and (G) squares. Sew these onto the sides of the unit made previously.
Step 5: Sew the White (B) squares between the Red (C) rectangles and the Red (B) square on the end of the White (F) rectangle. Sew them together and add the Red (P) rectangles on the sides. Measure over 1.5” from the bottom corners. Use the STOP method to add the Background (Q) rectangles. Measure down 3.5” from the top corners. Use the STOP method to add the Background (R) rectangles. Note that these (R) pieces will overlap at the top to allow for the 1/4” seam.
Step 6: Use the STOP method to add the Brown (D) to the Background (T) rectangle then to add the Background (B) square. Use the STOP method to add the Background (D) rectangle to the Brown (S) rectangle then add the Brown (B) square to the top. Use the STOP method to add the Brown (F) rectangle to the Background (S) rectangle then to add the Background (B) square. Sew these units together.
Step 4: Use the STOP method to add the White (K) rectangles to the Beige (J) rectangles. Use the STOP method to add the Background (B) and (G) squares. Sew these onto the sides of the unit made previously.
Step 5: Sew the White (B) squares between the Red (C) rectangles and the Red (B) square on the end of the White (F) rectangle. Sew them together and add the Red (P) rectangles on the sides. Measure over 1.5” from the bottom corners. Use the STOP method to add the Background (Q) rectangles. Measure down 3.5” from the top corners. Use the STOP method to add the Background (R) rectangles. Note that these (R) pieces will overlap at the top to allow for the 1/4” seam.
Step 6: Use the STOP method to add the Brown (D) to the Background (T) rectangle then to add the Background (B) square. Use the STOP method to add the Background (D) rectangle to the Brown (S) rectangle then add the Brown (B) square to the top. Use the STOP method to add the Brown (F) rectangle to the Background (S) rectangle then to add the Background (B) square. Sew these units together.
Step 7: Arrange and sew the units together to complete the block. Block should measure 12.5” square.
