Step 1:  Place the Light Green and Medium Green (C) squares on the Dark Green (C) squares. Draw a diagonal line, as shown in blue. This is your GUIDE line. Sew 1/4” on each side of the GUIDE line. Cut along the GUIDE line and press the seams open. Trim each HST to 2.5” square. Use the STOP method to add the White (A) squares on the corners.

Step 2: Use the STOP method to add the White (A) squares on the corners of the Light Green (D) square and (E) rectangle. Sew the White (G) rectangles to the sides of the (D) unit and sew the units together to complete the pear.

Step 3: Use the STOP method to add the White (A) square to the Light Brown (F) rectangle, then to add the Medium Brown (A) square to the other end of the Light Brown (F). Sew the Light Brown (A) to the top. Sew the White (A) square to the bottom of the Dark Brown (F) rectangle and sew this to the side of the first unit. Use the STOP method to add the White (B) square, then sew the White (G) rectangle to the side and the White (H) to the bottom.

Step 4: Sew the Dark Brown (*) square on the end of the Medium Brown (**) rectangle. Sew the Medium Brown (***) to the top and the Medium Brown (****) to the bottom, then sew the Light Brown (A) squares on the top and bottom. Also, use the STOP method to add the Light Brown (F) rectangle to the end of the Medium Brown (F) rectangle, then to add the White (A) and Light Brown (A) squares. Sew these two units together.

Step 5: Use the STOP method to add the Light Brown (B) squares to the Medium Brown (H) rectangle.

Step 6: Use the STOP method to add the White (B) square on the end of the Light Brown (J) rectangle.

Step 7: Use the STOP method to add the Medium Brown (D) square on the end of the White (K) rectangle. Measure up 1.5” from the corner of the White (K) rectangle. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the Light Brown (F) rectangle and place it on the White (K) rectangle. Sew along the diagonal line, trim seam and press open.

Step 8: Use the STOP method to add the Light Brown (A) and (D) squares to the Medium Brown (K) rectangle. Sew the Light Brown (L) rectangles on top and bottom. Use the STOP method to add the White (B) square on the corner.

Step 9: Sew the White (F) rectangles to the Leaves. Arrange and sew the units together to complete the block. Block should measure 12.5” square.

  4. Wow, I just finished Mr. Partridge. It turned out better than I expected. Precision piecing is definitely not my stong suit. I will do a photo tomorrow and link it to your site. Thanks for the great instructions.
