It was back in July of last year that I received my order of 100 quilt labels from the ikaprint store. It was in this post that I shared how much I loved my new labels and showed off how they looked on a newly finished GenX-Aztec quilt, for which I also shared a free tutorial on making that quilt. This past week I used my 33rd label from that 100 label order when I finished my Zany ZebraZ quilt.
These labels are made by Fatih Demirtas of IKA Products.
Fatih is based in Paris, France.
She make the most handsome and stylish bags and totes.
And blogs about them here on her site.

ReplyDeleteI use labels infrequently because I usually forget to put them on, unfortunately. I have some from Etsy that are printed on fabric. What I don't like about them is they are stitched to the quilt instead of tucked inside the binding like the Ikaprint labels.
ReplyDeleteI took a course on how to label quilts, but sadly never actually do because it takes time. Once I'm done a project I'm excited to move on to the next idea. This type of label looks simple and might work well for me.
ReplyDeleteI make my own labels using t-shirt tranfers and ribbon, I've mostly put them on bags and such but don't yet know how they hold up in the wash. I've also recently purchased some from Modern yardage, but those are pretty big so i'll probably only put them on quilts for family and friends.

ReplyDeleteI always label and I put plenty of information on my quilts. I am currently using label yardage that I handwrite on with an indelible fabric marker. Sometimes I quilt the information in the background. Whenever possible I piece the label into the backing so it is almost impossible to remove.

One time I typed my info on muslin for a label. Mostly I just write on the back with a Pigma Micron pen, usually in a corner. -- soparkaveataoldotcom

I use labels that are similar to yours. I have used about half of them. Sometimes I make fabric labels myself when I know the quilt will be washed many times. I then use a fabric pen for writing, or I use the special stitches of the alphabet on my sewing machine!

I have bought fabric with pre-printed labels on, and also made my own by piecing a small block with leftover fabric from the front of the quilt and incorporating it into the backing. These intrigue me, and I did visit her site once and put it on my "gotta do" list! So I'd love to win!
ReplyDeleteAs a matter of fact I have been getting my labels from ikaprint for years! I found them through Etsy! Even being in France, they ship super fast. Plus they keep your info on hand, so reordering is easy too!

ReplyDeleteI really, really like these labels! I do have a stash of labels that I had made, but I'm not crazy about them so I don't use them very much. If I add a different label, I cut a small piece of muslin with my pinking shears, write on it with fabric pen, then attach it with Heat & Bond. Shnazzy, huh?

I always sign and date my work, if they are small object just with a fabric marker; if they are bigger project I embroider a label with more information (like title, recipient, etc.) Those label looks great for small projects! thanks for the chance!!

I don't put labels on my non-quilt items. But I do write out a personalized label on my minis & reg size quilts bc they're always for someone else & I want them to know I made it for them.

I always label the quilts I give away, the ones I keep........not so much. I make them on word program and print on the pretreated sheets you can buy. Winning would be an awesome birthday gift for me! LOL

I have designed labels that I print on fabric and then complete the details by hand (name of quilt, the date, my signature) before stitching in place. I generally use these on quilts. I don't generally label other makes such as totes or cushions and would definitely love new labels I could use on those. Thanks for a great giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI make a hand-printed label, using Pigma pens, then do a little border around it in the leftover fabrics from the front! Then I sew it on by hand…BEFORE quilting, so that the label cannot be removed and someone else could claim to be the maker. It also helps if the quilt gets stolen.
I'd love to have some custom ones to put on items made for sale!

I print out the information (name of the quilt, who it was made for, my name and location the quilt was made, and the date). ReplyDeleteI usually embroider something simple...hardly ever my name or info - these labels would be awesome! On my MIL's quilt (that went to her in a nursing home), I embroidered HER name and MY phone number....all inside a heart frame...that got as many comments as did the quilt! I also made that little patch easily removable, so when she passed away, all I had to do was rip out a few stitches, resew the binding down & regift it. Win-win!

ReplyDeleteOn regular sewing items and small items like hotpads and mug rugs, I ordered labels from Clotilde/Annie's that they custom printed with my name. For my quilts, I usually hand-embroider a piece of fabric with all the pertinent quilt info and my name, then sew wrong sides to fusible interfacing, fuse to the quilt and hand-stitch to secure. I don't trust the "permanent" fabric markers, so I like to embroider, but it's slower, and I don't have a machine with alphabet nor embroidery capabilities.

Sometimes I just mark it on the back with a Sharpie or fabric pen, sometimes I affix a separate label using a leftover block, sometimes I write it on the triangle corners I use for hanging up quilts. I put my name, the finish date, and my city and state. Sometimes I add extra information too.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win some labels printed for me. I either write on the quilt itself, or I write on white fabric and attach it. Just recently I found some generic "hugs and kisses" sew on labels and have used 5 of them.

ReplyDeleteFor quilts, I use a fabric pen to write on the backing, if it's a dark colour I piece a pale section into it. For cushions I write on the inside.

I label my quilts using the inkjet printer method for the text part.
ReplyDeleteI fold a 5 inch square of white fabric diagonally and sew it into the corner when attaching my binding. When I give away the quilt, I write on it with a Pigma pen. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI do have some pretty labels that I ordered through etsy though I wish now I had gotten the fold over kind! Mine are only one sided and makes placement odd.
