I got to use these gorgeous Island Batik fabrics from the new Cry Me A River collection.
I was approached through email by my good friend, Connie of Freemotion by the River, and she asked if I would be interested in taking part in this hop. I have not had a lot of experience with batiks. But Connie sure has! She makes the most beautiful projects using batiks.
Connie was kind enough to answer one question I had. Was it advisable to prewash? Connie assured me that prewashing was not necessary. Just to use a dye trapping sheet (such as Shout Color Catchers or Dr. Beckmann - Colour & Dirt Collector) when washing your finished project.

ReplyDeleteI've never used batiks either but they sure are pretty. I am interested to see what you come up with. I'm a dedicated Shout Color Catcher user, but I recently read that they may not work as well in top loading machines with no agitator (which is what I have). I haven't had a problem yet, though.
ReplyDeleteThe first quilt I made was a table runner from 4 inch batik squares. I called it "under the sea" I need to dig it out and take a picture of it. I think I put it in UFO's so I could take apart and fix my not so matched corners. LOL Debbie
