Welcome back to another Wednesday Link Up! School started back on Tuesday for my two kids, both of which are now in high school. So this means I am now going to have some more time to myself and less time to spend watching dvd's and playing video games. Hopefully this will mean more time spent sewing!
This week I am working on a remake of my Fox & Friends equilateral triangle quilt. This is the first time I have ever done a remake. I normally never make the same quilt twice.
I have completed the top using Kona Cotton Solids. And have chosen a cute minky print for the backing. My first time using minky. But what to do for the quilting? Not quite sure if I want to do it the same as last time.... Any suggestions? The first Fox & Friends quilt can be seen

ReplyDeleteI agree with Dawn! The eyes really make the animals come to life! As for quilting, I can see FMQ swirls in the blue? Not sure about in the animals, if to continue the swirls, or to do something different though.

ReplyDeleteThis is a cute quilt and as usual I like your colour choices. I am interested to know whether you have enjoyed making it a second time (I'm thinking of repeating something for the first time). Hope you enjoy your extra sewing time.
ReplyDeleteLove it just as much as the first one! Oh man, I was going to suggest along each seam, but when I went back to the first on.... With the minky, you'll need to do something that doesn't require a lot of turning or loops. I say, just do it the same way.
ReplyDeleteI must be blind, because I don't see a difference between the first and the second. Unless you used a different fabric line, because in the second photo the colours are brighter (could be just the weather). I'd keep the quilting simple, exactly as the first one, just enough to hold it all together.

ReplyDeleteI like how you quilted the first one. It looked crisp and fresh. The any other way I can think of right now would be to create fur by thightly quilting the foxes, but then you would have to do heavy quilting on the whole quilt... That would give the quilt a different look, I think.

This is such a fun project no wonder you made it again! What about just as side to side wavy line about an 1" apart. It would give sort of a hill and dale effect and movement to the little guys?
ReplyDeleteI'll be curious to see how you like sewing with the minky fabric. Have considered trying it but kept thinking of all the lint that would end up in my machine!
