Let's Bee Social #36

Welcome back to another Wednesday Link Up!  School started back on Tuesday for my two kids, both of which are now in high school.  So this means I am now going to have some more time to myself and less time to spend watching dvd's and playing video games.  Hopefully this will mean more time spent sewing!

This week I am working on a remake of my Fox & Friends equilateral triangle quilt.  This is the first time I have ever done a remake.  I normally never make the same quilt twice.

I have completed the top using Kona Cotton Solids.  And have chosen a cute minky print for the backing.  My first time using minky.  But what to do for the quilting?  Not quite sure if I want to do it the same as last time....  Any suggestions?  The first Fox & Friends quilt can be seen here.

NOW.... What's new with you?

  1. Oh Lorna what a difference a few eyes placed here and there make. Its terrific

  2. I agree with Dawn! The eyes really make the animals come to life! As for quilting, I can see FMQ swirls in the blue? Not sure about in the animals, if to continue the swirls, or to do something different though.

  3. I see you and BOB are getting well acquainted! Little Foxy and his friends - love it. Remind us how you sew all those triangles together so neatly :)

  4. This is a cute quilt and as usual I like your colour choices. I am interested to know whether you have enjoyed making it a second time (I'm thinking of repeating something for the first time). Hope you enjoy your extra sewing time.

  5. Love it just as much as the first one! Oh man, I was going to suggest along each seam, but when I went back to the first on.... With the minky, you'll need to do something that doesn't require a lot of turning or loops. I say, just do it the same way.

  6. I must be blind, because I don't see a difference between the first and the second. Unless you used a different fabric line, because in the second photo the colours are brighter (could be just the weather). I'd keep the quilting simple, exactly as the first one, just enough to hold it all together.

  10. The fox quilt is one of my favorite's of yours so it is easy to see why you would want to make another.

  11. Such a cute quilt Lorna! I can see why you would want to make it again! I Love Minky backings and am Very curious about what your Minky back looks like.

  12. I like how you quilted the first one. It looked crisp and fresh. The any other way I can think of right now would be to create fur by thightly quilting the foxes, but then you would have to do heavy quilting on the whole quilt... That would give the quilt a different look, I think.

  13. I love your foxes quilt. I can't help with the quilting so I'll just wait and see what you decide to do!

  14. Love this one too, I have never used Minky I invision the fuzzy stuff floating in the air. Let me know how you do

  15. I loved the way you quilted the original one. It really let you focus on the pattern - which is just too cute not to be focused on!

  17. I have only done simple walking foot quilting with Minky, so I don't know what to tell you. Have fun!

  18. I love this quilt design! I'm often amazed at how something seemingly simple -- like a quilt of equilateral triangles -- can create something so unique. I'd be interested in hearing your experiences with the Minky. Good luck!

  19. That is SO cute! The eyes totally make the quilt!

  20. I love this quilt too! I have never used minky...sorry, I haven't any words of wisdom or advice! Do let us know how it goes!
Glad you get to have more time to sew too!

  21. This is such a fun project no wonder you made it again! What about just as side to side wavy line about an 1" apart. It would give sort of a hill and dale effect and movement to the little guys?

  22. I'll be curious to see how you like sewing with the minky fabric. Have considered trying it but kept thinking of all the lint that would end up in my machine!

  23. This one is such a cute quilt, one of my favourites by you. It's weird, I want to remake two wall hangings too, but just never get around to it. I guess we get distracted by new patterns too easily :)
