For my project I chose the GO! Ohio Star die and set to work designing a quilt using my EQ7 quilt program. I decided to put that Ohio Star on point and then added a simple nine patch to be used as an alternate block.
Once my Mixed Bag Houndstooth in Sprouts by Moda arrived, it was just a matter of choosing from my Kona cotton fat quarters to coordinate with this backing fabric.
It was a sunny Saturday afternoon, perfect for quickly cutting out all the necessary pieces using my AccuQuilt GO! cutter and my new BOB die.
The great thing about BOB dies - all the pieces needed for your block can be cut using a single die.
Fan fold your fabric strips. Place them on the die and cover with the cutting mat.
Then crank the die through the cutter for cuts made from one side of the die.....
Or cut from each side of the die at once.
Your perfect pieces will all be cut out and ready to piece in no time!
Here are my alternate blocks - nine patches - up on my design wall. These nine patch blocks and the GO! Ohio Star blocks are a 12" finished size.
And the Ohio Star pieces as they were being stitched up.
By Monday I was ready for basting.
I wanted to emphasize this on point design, so on Tuesday I quilted along the diagonal seams using Magnifico from Superior Threads, in Aruba and Electric Green. By Tuesday night, this project was quilted, trimmed and bound! This is project #11 in my quilt label countdown from 100.
And from the back....
the Mixed Bag Houndstooth in Sprout with an offset strip of Kona Silver.
Quilt finished at 51" x 51" and is now listed along with the other Quilts for Sale in my Etsy shop!
The Ohio Stars in Solids pdf pattern is available for instant download in my pattern store here.
This was one of my fastest finishes ever!
I love working with BOB! BOB is Fast, Easy and sew much FUN! I have had the hots for BOB since I first laid eyes on this Ohio Star block design way back in May.
