How about a little KYSS?

As in Keep Your Sewing Simple!
Just what the quilt doctor ordered - a fun little sewing room mini quilt.

It seems I am about to embark on a String Thing.  I came up with this little block for fun...
And the idea developed into a few new projects.

After spending over two full months working on the giant Oh My, Scrappy Stars quilt, I need to work on something simple.  And to keep me motivated to finish the quilting on that beast, I had to become inspired by my next project.  You know, it is really difficult to come up with a fresh idea that is something simple.  There is just sew much stuff out there that has already been done!

Now this is my second month participating in the A Lovely Year of Finishes.

It is hosted by these talented ladies....
Shanna of Fiber of All Sorts and Melissa from Sew BitterSweet Designs.
My July goal was to finish my Oh My, Scrappy Stars! quilt top and get it quilted on my tiny Janome.
And I did manage to get that done.

For August's goal, I am planning to design, quilt and publish the pattern for a sweet sewing room mini quilt.  And that's all.

I can't plan to too much as I have been notified that my Moda Bake Shop shipment is on it's way and I want to be sure to have my time free to work on that scrumptious recipe in the works!

This summer has been filled with long periods of time spent away from my sewing space, while carting the kids to baseball and swim team practices, meets and games.  During those hours away, I like to bring along a nice sharp pencil and my graph paper and spend some of that time doodling and brainstorming.

How do you develop your ideas?  And what are you working on this month?

Keep on Quilting on!

  1. I do love that block! As for what I am working on....finishing up baby things, getting started and hopefully finishing the 2 quilts I got fabric for while in Alaska and getting organized for our retreat next month! Lots to do, and my machine is at the spa getting rejuvenated!

  2. Cool! Looking forward to what you create! I've got the mother of all projects coming up. I hope to start in September, but there's lots of little things I want to work out before I get there. A few practice projects and a TON of math and I should be on my way. :)
