This quilt is not my first finish. Obviously.
It's also not my first finish to include a fox.
It's not my first finish to include a squirrel either.
However, this may be my first attempt at using perspective in quilt design. The fox is standing on the ground. Gazing up into the trees. We are looking down on the fox from the perspective of the squirrels. As though we were perched high in the treetops too!
The backing was pieced using this wintery nature print by Northcott Fabrics, and a self-designed feather pattern, printed through Spoonflower a long time ago.
I thought this was appropriate for a backing because there are foxes and squirrels included!
Again this quilt was a great use of stash fabrics. Doing my best to continue to quilt from stash this year!
The Out Foxed by a Squirrel pattern is available in my shop here.
Blocks finish in Full or Half sizes, enabling the following finished quilt size options:
Baby - Half size quilt finishes at 38” x 46”
Big - Full size quilt finishes at 76" x 92"
Biggest - Full size quilt finishes at 92" x 92"
A squirrel from all views, and love the wavy quilting. Another beauty.
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I wonder what the fox is thinking...I'm sure the squirrels are looking down and laughing at him. ☺
ReplyDeleteThis is really cute Lorna! If you replaced the fox with my dog...it would be identical to my back yard on a daily basis! hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI love this one. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who is often out foxed by a squirrel in my own backyard... this is really cute.
