Let's Bee Social # 193

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social!
So glad to have you join us for the Let's Bee Social weekly linky party!

This past week I received my copy of the Quilter's Connection magazine. And I was flattered to find out that I am surrounded by a talented line up of fellow quilters in the column titled The "Q" List - Who to Watch.

This magazine is packed full of quilts and quilters!

I was thrilled to be able to read all about one girl with a super big heart. She frequently links up here at the Let's Bee Social. You might be familiar with Leanne of Devoted Quilter.

There was a fire at a seniors residence near where Leanne lives. And she took it upon herself to make and accept quilt blocks and quilts made by others and to have them delivered to these poor displaced folks. Many of the residents lost everything. You can read all about her latest deliveries and see some of the happy recipients here and here.

Interesting..... the Zipper Quilt! Who'd have thought?

Here is a handy list of tips.....

And it's always nice to get a behind the scenes (or bolts) peek at a fabric shop.....

Lots to learn.....

What else have a been up to this week?

I have not been slacking. Honest!

I am working away on my first of two table runners that I am making as part of the Tablerunner Bliss quilt along. Because Fat Quarter Shop carries such a wide selection of beautiful fabrics it was difficult to choose what to use for this runner. but I finally decided on using fabrics from the Manderley collection.

Using the chain piecing method made the work fast and simple. I take the chains over to my cutting board and they are easy to line up for the next step in trimming off the corners.

And then they are transported over to the ironing board before snipping the pieces apart!

  1. Hi, Lorna! You know, reading through those tips for being a "successful" quilter, and then looking at your table runner project -- small projects are perfect for all of that practicing, getting to know a new sewing machine, learning new techniques. I have been meaning to make some for the Christmas holidays for years now, but I never seem to get around to it.
