Bumper2Bumper |
Last Tuesday I had to have my appendix removed. Quite suddenly. So here I am now.... Glad to be able to share another Let's Bee Social weekly linky party with you!
This week I am feeling pretty close to "normal" again. I spent Monday morning with the ladies from the Quaker Quilt Guild in Norwich providing a trunk show and was so very grateful to have some help carrying those totes of quilts and patterns into the show and out again. You can see photos over at Cindy's blog at Stitchin At Home. Thanks for your hospitality, Cindy!
Here and there I have been working on some new design ideas. And today I am happy to announce the new Bumper2Bumper pattern is ready to go!
I am so pleased to have finally come come up with a design that finally focuses on those boys in our lives. This car design puts me in mind of when my son was a wee little guy. He loved ANYTHING with WHEELS. And he still does...
I was only going to offer this in one block size - the smaller car block finishes at 5" x 9". Using 28 blocks, and the layout as shown at the beginning of this post, this would result in a 38" x 43" baby size quilt.
But then I started thinking about how those little boys always grow into bigger boys. And I thought of how many of them retain their love of cars. So the block is also offered in a larger size finishing at 10" x 18". The same layout of the large blocks allows for a twin size quilt finishing at 76" x 86".
If you have a car guy in your life that you would like to make a car quilt for, you can find the Bumper2Bumper quilt pattern listed here in my pattern shop.
VROOM! VROOM!

Hi Lorna! I hope you are fine now. What a fantastic pattern again! Who wouldn't love Bumpers on quilt! Thank you for the party! x Teje
ReplyDeleteI added my link but the thumbnail isn't there? Maybe I didn't do something the right way.Or didn't do it at all!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fun pattern. Any little boy would love this one, and more than a few little girls too, especially if the cars were purple and pink.
ReplyDeleteTake care sweetie, let it heal properly !
ReplyDeleteOh Lorna - so glad you are better!! What a shock - take time to heal! Love, love your new car pattern! Yes, this is a perfect pattern for the little and big boys in our lives. Thank you for this absolutely lovely design!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear all went well with your op Lorna. And that you're feeling better. What cute cars! Are you going to do trucks next?
ReplyDeleteLorna, I hope you are recovering alright from your appendix removal. It is frightening when this happens all over sudden. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear! Make sure you get lots of rest and don't push yourself too hard. Love your colourful cars.
ReplyDeleteGreat new pattern! Sorry to hear you ended up with your appendix removed - get well!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are doing ok after your surgery and super happy that you were able to present your fantastic trunk show at my guild.
ReplyDeleteYikes Lorna! You just go go go! Quilt designer extraordinaire, stop to have appendix removed, do a trunk show, post on blog. I need a nap! Hope you take time to heal up. Love the car pattern!!
ReplyDeletesorry you had to have surgery - that is no fun - but these kinds of surgery sure are easier than they used to be. My sister had hers out years ago and was in the hospital for at least 5 days and huge scar - heard it has a tiny scar now and in and out of the hospital quickly
ReplyDeleteoh dear, appendix? glad you are on the mend. Love the cars :)
ReplyDeleteVroom! This is such a cute block, which of course makes for a very cute quilt! Love it! What a surprise for you...I hope you are feeling much better and are well on your way to a full recovery!
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me with your creativeness. So cute.
ReplyDeleteOh Lorna, I hope you're on the mend now! Make your family wait on you for a while. Those giant cars are terrific. Have fun dreaming up new things while you recuperate!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your health scare but so glad you are on the mend, get better soon and I love the car blocks!
ReplyDeleteOh no!! So sorry to hear about the abrupt departure of your appendix!! :O I'm glad to hear you are on your way back to 199%! And those cars are cute overload!! With all of your recent events, I'm amazed with all you do! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour Vroom Vroom quilt is just perfect for boys of all sizes. I'm glad you are on the mend!
ReplyDeleteThis is an adorable pattern and I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back home and on the mend, emergency surgery isn't a fun thing. Cute car block!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Lorna I hope you are feeling back to normal! That's quite an adventure you had!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I am glad you are feeling better. Any surgery isn't fun, but emergency surgery is extra taxing. Take care and I will be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteSweet Mercy Lorna! So glad you are on the mend! This car block is AWESOME! We totally need more boy blocks and I LOVE that your blocks allow me to use up whatever fabric I have here (which by the way is a LOT!) Hahaha. And to have it in two sizes is just wonderful! Thank you for one more project to go on my "Sew Much To Sew" list!
ReplyDeleteContinue to take care of yourself. I love the cars....I collect those miniature cars like Hot Wheels. I can see fussy cutting fabric with a person and/or cat/dog on it for a car here and there...Road Trip! We do need more male oriented quilts. I just bought "Vintage Tin" by Crabapple Hill to embroider-very masculine but it appeals to me too. That will be a long term project. This looks like such a fun pattern.
ReplyDeleteThis pattern is so cute...my little grandson would love it! I am so glad you are feeling better...what a trooper you are to go to a trunk show so soon after surgery!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better now and that your appendix was caught in time.
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I hope you're feeling better by now. Glad you're back. And the car blocks are adorable! Dan
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are on the mend!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're healing! I had my appendix out in 2007 and I have to say, the pain before they figured out what was wrong was worse than childbirth... and the drugs not as good! I hope you didn't have as bad an experience as I did! Love the cars! Construction vehicles next?
ReplyDeletewhat a perfect block for a little boy, or come to that, any child. I hope you are feeling better again, take it very easy, don't lift anything heavier than a needle for a little bit of sewing on binding!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are recovering nicely and feeling better. How scary!
ReplyDeleteOh dear - that must have been a rather bad experience for you. Pleased that all has been resolved and you are feeling better. But please remember to look after yourself - you body has some healing to do.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're back at it after your appendix episode. It sounds like you are busier than I would be after that experience. I'm sure a lot of "kids" will be getting Bumper2Bumper quilts this year!
ReplyDeleteI love the cars. They are so cute. I hope you're feeling better. Here I was moaning about my eyes, and you had major surgery. At least I was able to give you a good laugh. LOL
ReplyDeleteGlad you are on the mend, can't have been nice. And back sewing, I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteOh, take care not to overdo it. Your cars are super cute!
ReplyDeleteI am certainly glad to hear you are doing better and hope you are feeling 110% better. Your newest pattern is a perfect quilt for the car lover in one's life.
ReplyDeleteWhat cute cars! Sorry about the surgery. That kind is always 'unexpected'.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, you have been through it haven't you! Something that sudden is always so scary! Glad to see you're back at it so soon! Hope you're taking it easy though :) I love your cars, and you're so right, we need more stuff for the boys! All the best x
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling better after your appendix operation. I had a hysterectomy early this month and am still working on recovering. Those cars are so adorable! I can't believe how active you can still be after your health issues.
