It's the last day of November.
So that means it is only one more month until.....
Canada's BIG Birthday!
Canada 150th Anniversary - Lap 66" x 66" |
Canada 150th Anniversary - Baby 40" x 50" |
Canada will be turning 150 years old in 2017.
And I have a plan for both a baby and lap quilt design.
The pattern is written and it's testing time!
For this project I will be revisiting my MOD Bear Paw and the Forest Friends quilt designs. This time the Bear, which is the same size it was in the earlier design, will be in two versions - a Polar Bear and a Black or Brown Bear. And each will be hanging out with it's food of choice. Those wee seal pups and their big black eyes are so adorable! And the salmon look so fresh! The Loon and the Canadian Goose are new too!
The Canadian Beaver that is center stage in this design was used in the Forest Friends quilt, but this time I have doubled the size of that block. It now measures a whopping 18" x 26". Looking forward to showing off my great big beaver!
Now... It's your turn for Show and Tell!!!

ReplyDeleteLorna, I have been eying these quilts on your side bar - under the coming soon label. Absolutely love them both. If I wasn't already Canadian - I would want to become one - you have made such beautiful designs for the coming 150th Canada's Birthday Celebration. You have picked the perfect animals to represent our Country and in a pattern easy enough for everyone to enjoy. I'm looking forward to stitching these :)!

ReplyDeleteAm I the only one with a naughty sense of humor? You crack me up, Lorna! I am not Canadian, but have a share of ancestral Canadian adventure from Atlin, BC running through my veins. I need another project like I need a hole in the bottom of my fabric bag! lol. But who can resist your attractive patterns? I have a group of ugly Christmas sweaters that really want to become a quilt this season, maybe I can get that completed! Thanks to everyone for the inspiration.
ReplyDeletePretty cool, Lorna! You do Canada proud! XO
