Let's Bee Social # 141

I can hardly believe that summer is already on it's way out....
I miss it already!

The kids returned to a new school year yesterday.
My daughter is in her final year of high school and my son is entering Grade 11.

Time sure does fly!

And now that fall is on our doorstep, it's back to visiting guilds and providing trunk shows and workshops. Today I am preparing for my show at the Halton Quilters' Guild in Burlington, ON tomorrow night.

I spent most of my weekend designing a Flower quilt and writing up the pattern instructions.
And then I spent a little time shopping at Mad About Patchwork and came up with this....

Flowers in Mad About Patchwork - 70" x 90"

Using the fabric choices that come with the EQ7 program, this is how my original plan looked...

Flowers in EQ7 - 70" x 90"

I also tried it out in a couple of Northcott Fabrics' Essentials lines...

Flowers in Northcott ColorWorks - 70" x 90"

Flowers in Northcott Toscana - 70" x 90"

And then I adjusted the design to allow for this square quilt option...

Flowers in Mad About Patchwork - 70" x 70"

I also chose my fabrics for the MOD Bear Paw QAL.
I have everything cut out and ready to sew!

MOD Bear Paw - 39" x 47"

The MOD Bear Paw QAL started on September 3rd!
You can check out the introductory post here.

And the Cutting Instructions are scheduled for this Saturday.

  1. It all looks great, Lorna! I'm excited to see the QAL quilts progress and the new design is very lovely. It will be a fun quilt to enjoy on cold, wintery days. The promise of spring flowers is always such a boost for me in the middle of winter.

  7. Love the flower quilt. It's a perfect project to capture the last of the summer color before autumn gets a good hold on the flora and fauna. I really like the blue version of your MOD Bear Paw, it's very pretty.

  8. Love each and every flower in this quilt - and with the added butterflies - it is special. To enjoy this reminder of a garden - without the humidity :) - in those winter months would be wonderful! Yes, back to school is a new chapter again for everyone - hope your two have a wonderful year!!

  20. Well, I have to say that this quilt leaves me asking just one question... do you ever sleep? Wow, I know that having the kids in school really helps with getting things done, but this is kind of hyped up enegizer bunny style!?! Great pattern... always looking forward to what's new with you.
