I just want to say, first of all, how happy I am to see all those of you who stop in each week to join in the fun.... And how nice it is to see so many new faces joining in. Hope you all are ready to party!
Before I go any further....
I just want to make you aware that the week of June 20-24 will be filled with some special Giveaways. So stay tuned!!!
Meanwhile.... Have a look at this little boy.
He is the newest addition to our farm family.
Say hello to Andy!
This week I received some of new patterns that are now available in printed form. Mostly for wholesale to quilt shops. But if you don't have a home printer and would like to get a paper copy of any of my patterns, just send me an email and let me know. My contact info is on my sidebar at the top.
And on Saturday I had the great pleasure of leading an Elephant Parade workshop for some of the members of the Etobicoke Quilters' Guild. What can I tell you about these ladies? Well, for starters, they were so much fun to spend the day with! My cheeks were tired from all the smiling and laughing I did that day. And my throat was parched from all the talking and laughing.
Here we have Sylvia and Janis....
This is "the other" Janice....
And Chris....
This busy stitcher is Róisín....
And here is Marilyn on her way to the ironing board.
Now for those of you who read my post about providing a trunk show for the Etobicoke Quilters in April, you know how much trouble I had in getting to the Neilson Park Creative Center last time. You'd think I would not have had a problem this time having been there once already. But no. First trip there I exited too early off the 401. And this time I went right past it. Thankfully, each time I did indeed arrive. Those girls know how to make everything better.... And had a cup of coffee (and lots of smiling, friendly faces) waiting for me when I walked in.
I had the most fun getting to know these sweet stitchers. They were the most enthusiastic group. Friendly, fun, inquisitive..... And helpful! They offered many insights on how to improve the Elephant Parade pattern. Such as the suggestion to include the advice to either stick with solids or use a non directional print.
As much as we talked and joked around, when it comes to progress, this is a group of serious sewers. I made sure to get a photo of everyone holding at least one of their finished blocks.
When the class was winding down and just when I thought the fun would soon be over.... Janice brought up the subject of fabric shopping. Did I want to stop in at a shop before heading home? Well of course! I followed her over to Sew Sisters Quilt Shop. We had a lovely time browsing around in there. And chatting for quite a while with Judy, the owner. And then Janice got me safely back to the 401 so I could make my journey back home again. Thank you Janice!!!
Did I buy any fabric?
Now that's a silly question!
These are a meter of each from Northcott Fabrics' Painter's Palette collection.
It's your turn for Show and Tell!!!

Hi Lorna! I can only imagine how much you had that day!!! x Teje
ReplyDelete... I forgot to say that I love Andy! Could we see more photos from your farm, please! x Teje
ReplyDelete... and what about quilt full of farm animals!
ReplyDeleteAndy looks as though he will be a big boy when all grown up. What a fab group of ladies, lovely herd of elephants too in all colours.
ReplyDeleteLook at all of those clever ladies!
ReplyDeleteAndy is so adorable, and the colour of his coat is beautiful, winder what it would be like duplicated into a fabric, maybe a textured solid........... You seem to be having a great time off on your teaching trips, I laughed about missing your turnoff - twice. Seems we have a lot in common.

Oh my goodness Andy is adorable. Baby cows are so cute. When they jump around and play... its the cutest thing ever! Sadly that frolicking doesn't last long. Do I see a Calf quilt in your future?
ReplyDeleteit looks like you had so much fun with the ladies at your class Lorna I bet it was nice to get off the farm and spend some time socializing as well.
ReplyDeleteLove the baby cow
Andy is adorable! Don't know that I'd know what to do with him, though, lol :) The elephant parade workshop looks like it was a great time and everyone made great progress.
ReplyDeleteThe happy, glowing faces say it all. Glad it was fun for everyone.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful day it looks like you had! Smiles from everyone! Little Andy is the cutest...I love his color!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love Andy! I concur with the other comments, please tell us a farm animal or cow quilt will be coming :)
ReplyDeleteYou've had a busy week! The new calf is very cute (my husband wrote me a short love poem when we were first dating that went something like: baby cows are cute but not as cute as you LOL). And the class sounds delightful!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I just had to smile when I read about you missing your destination... my husband makes fun of me all too much and calls me his "navigation cookie" for doing the same thing. There must have been a really good song on the radio, huh? Or maybe dreaming of the next quilt as you drove past? Well, in any case it looks like you had a great time - enjoy your new fabrics!
ReplyDeleteLove the cute photo of Andy - how long before he has his own quilt/block? :)
ReplyDeleteYou are one brave girl, Lorna! I grew up driving to and from and around those Highways, but now - it is "Country Home, take me home...." :)! What a happy time though once you arrived. Beautiful fabric!
ReplyDeleteAndy is pretty cute Lorna. It looks like you had a great day at the Etobicoke workshop.
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a great time. I like your new fabrics.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Andy looks like he's ready to tackle the world - what a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThe ladies of Etobicoke Quilters sure are the nicest bunch! Like everyone's dream guild. :) Glad you had such a great day with them Lorna!
Oh Andy is so cute. I miss my young farm life when I see such cuteness!
ReplyDeleteThe group looks like they all had a fun time working on your quilt patterns. :)
Oh my goodness how could you not introduce Andy to us?!! The class sounds like it was lots of fun Lorna - and very productive by the photos!
ReplyDeleteThe ladies looked like they had a lot of fun. Very cute critters all around! I also like your summery new fabrics. Pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a fun time was had by all! I can only imagine the laughing and smiles from everyone. One of the things I hate about driving is getting lost. I'm lucky I find my way home every evening :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet calf. We have quite a few of those around here right now, too! I came late to the party, but I came. How fun to be teaching your fabulous designs - and how great that they are now available in stores. I'd like to tell my local quilt store about them if you'd be interested in selling to them. It's just a small town, but people will buy them, of that I'm certain! Let me know...
ReplyDeleteWow you weren't kidding about those quilters gettin' down and serious to finish those adorable blocks. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute addition to the family :) It looks like you had a blast teaching your workshop, I wish we could get you to teach in SC at our guild.
