The penguin parade continues.... Thanks to the brilliance of Kitty of Night Quilter who suggested a red bow tie for one of the penguins in the Penguin Inn design, I planned to come up with some alternate block sizes for the penguin. And then decided to offer them as a FREE tutorial!
Inspired by he 18" penguin block found in my Penguin Inn quilt, the Penguin Pyramid pattern contains 12", 9" and 6" penguin blocks. These would each be perfect for so many uses. Make a quilt with all the sizes or use a single block to make a cushion!
I used my blocks to make a pyramid of penguins wall hanging to go with the Penguin Inn quilt.
12" Penguin Block |
9" Penguin Block |
6" Penguin Block |
Just like with the Penguin Inn quilt, I chose variegated blue for quilting on top and used plain white thread in the bobbin. The backing is this flannel print from Northcott Fabrics' Let It Snow collection.
CLICK HERE for the FREE tutorial for the Penguin Pyramid. These quilt blocks are all made using traditional methods and are not paper pieced. The patterns provides material requirements, cutting instructions and detailed step-by-step directions.
"Penguin Pyramid" finished at approximately 12" x 27"
and was the 85th use of my 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.
