Love Birds Quilted Pillow Workshop

I've been talking an awful lot about "Santa's Workshop" this month. Okay.... So I may have still been hanging around in my own little sewing room. But the quilted pillow I was making was not destined to be given as a Christmas gift this time.

I recently received a phone call inquiring about whether I was interested in a Workshop event with the Listowel Creative Needles Club. Marilyn had been visiting the Sew Fresh Quilts blog and suggested that one of the blocks from the Forest Friends quilt pattern could be used by the ladies in her group to make a quilted cushion for their January meeting.

Just like the Wee Foxes pillows, this quilted cushion was made to match the Forest Friends quilt using the same Cotton Couture solids from Michael Miller Fabrics. I made the 8" x 13" Love Birds block, a part of my Forest Friends pattern, which can be purchased from my pattern store here. Then bordered the blocks with 4" wide strips.

And quilted using my signature organic wavy lines. I chose a light gray Superior Threads' Omni #3023 on top and plain white Guetermann polyester thread in the bobbin. Then I trimmed it down to the 13" x 20" size of the pillow form.

The backing is Aviary in aqua also by Michael Miller Fabrics. After making so many pillows this month, there was no need for me to turn to this tutorial by Svetlana of  S.O.T.A.K Handmade for making the hidden zipper closure on the back.

The "Love Birds" quilted pillow finished at 13" x 20"
and was the 75th use of my 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.

If you are interested in having me come to do a Trunk Show or Workshop with your guild, mention Sew Fresh Quilts to your guild's program director. It never hurts to make an inquiry....

I am willing to travel. And have a valid passport. Just sayin'.

  2. This is exciting! Love that little pillow. I'm still searching for the Quiltmaker's magazine for your cute giraffe quilt. I'm holding tight to the magazine that has your Reindeer block in it. My husband loves that block.
