Dog Gone Cute mock up drawn in EQ7 |
This is my first finished Dog Gone Cute project. It's the mini size version of the pattern.
Finishing at 30" x 30" using 12 of the small size blocks, these little pups were made using Kona Ash for the background. Two fat quarters easily provided for 6 pups from each fat quarter. These small size blocks finish at 9" x 6".
The coordinating binding is also from the Backyard Baby collection - Birch Forest. I am in love with the colours and design of that Backyard Baby collection! This same combination was used on my Squirrels in the Park quilt back in May. This time I sewed the binding to the back and then top stitched from the front to apply the binding.
This mini Dog Gone Cute quilt was the 49th use of my 100 labels
ordered from Ikaprint.

To participate only in the Quilt Along, tune in to Sew Fresh Quilts beginning on September 1st, when block and quilt size options, and details of fabric requirements will be shared. Or you can purchase the pattern and quilt along at your own pace. Each week following September 1st, instructions for the piecing of the various dog blocks will be given. In November, a linky party will be available to share your flickr and instagram photos or your Dog Gone Cute blog posts.
Participants of the Blog Hop portion will be placed on a schedule where we can come to visit you at your blog on your "Show It Off" day during October. Participants of the blog hop portion will be required to purchase a copy of the Dog Gone Cute quilt pattern, but will be reimbursed following the last day of the blog hop providing they do their part to help make the blog hop a success. The success of a blog hop depends on the participant's willingness to commit and follow through with their obligation:
- to make something quilted using the Dog Gone Cute pattern
- to blog about it in time for their day on the hop
- to visit the other participants on their "Show It Off" day.
If you are joining in the Blog Hop, why do I want you to purchase the pattern? This allows you to get a head start on making something for your "Show It Off" day in October, instead of waiting until all the instructions are shared during the month of September. It also prevents people from committing to participate in the blog hop just to get a free pattern. And, besides all the awesome prizes up for grabs, being offered the refund also provides additional motivation for you to follow through with your commitment.
Do you have to follow the pattern to make a quilt? Whether you are taking part in the quilt along or the blog hop, it's totally up to you what you make, as long as it is a quilted item. The large size dog block finishes at 18" x 12" - the perfect size for a placemat. The small size dog block finishes at 9" x 6". Super cute size and perfect for a mug rug. But once you've made one of these blocks, you'll want to make a whole litter of these adorable pups. I guarantee you will not be able to stop at just one. Just like chips... They are addictive!
YES! It is certainly okay for you to post about your progress on your blog. Whether you are taking part in the quilt along or the blog hop, it would be wonderful for you to share about the Dog Gone Cute Quilt Along Blog Hop so that your friends can hear about it. And maybe they will want to join in and quilt along, too!
Other than fun, what else does the Dog Gone Cute Quilt Along Blog Hop have to offer????
Prizes!
Thanks to some of the Sew Fresh Quilts sponsors, there will be awesome prizes available to be won! Whether you are taking part in the quilt along or the blog hop, there will be plenty of prizes to go around! More details to come in future posts. Keep up to date with all the details as they are added to the Dog Gone Cute quilt along blog hop page tab found just below the blog header.
Hope you will be following along!
