To update you on the Zebra progress, although I have indeed completed the 16 Zebra blocks need for my ZebraZ quilt, I have not yet decided how I am going to apply their eyes and nostrils. Either by an embroidery stitch, such as the satin stitch on my machine, or by applique. And I did not want to rush into this decision.
In the mean time, feeling a great need for spring to start showing some signs of returning, I figured perhaps I can "will it to arrive" by employing some warm and happy thoughts. So I dug out my Pretty Butterfly quilt pattern. And dug into my Architextures fat quarters that I received as a gift from Sew Sisters Quilt Shop back when I shared Kona Challenge tutorial on their blog. I made a few butterfly blocks for a table runner.
You can find the Pretty Butterfly quilt pattern for sale here in my pattern shop.
When it came time for the quilting, I was planning to do some straight line quilting from edge to edge. But when I sat down.... organic wavy lines in this sunny yellow Aurifil thread #1135 appeared and made quick work of the job. Looks like golden rays of sunshine!

Your butterfly table runner looks great in the fresh bright spring colors - and the yellow quilting is so fun! Thanks so much for hosting this link up every Wednesday; I look forward to it each week. I'll be back to check out what others are doing later. :)
ReplyDeleteyour runner is so pretty and those colours are perfect for this (supposed) time of year!!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking butterflies Lorna! So bright and cheerful.
ReplyDeleteThe golden yellow thread you used for quilting is perfect! I gives the quilt a very warm feeling.
ReplyDeleteI hope Spring shows up for you soon! Those butterflies are really cheerful, especially with the yellow thread you used for the quilting :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the zebras and I like the movement that quilting gives to quilts. Perfect for butterflies!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that the butterflies did not bring spring, but they surely look pretty. I like those organic quilting lines on it.
ReplyDeleteThose butterflies are beautiful and thank you for the birds this week, they were a great cheer-up for this gloomy weather week!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the weather. The happy spring quilt I'm working on doesn't seem to be doing anything for the weather here either. They're calling for up to 10" of snow here by tomorrow night. :( I do love the happy butterflies though.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun use of all those Architextures fabrics! I love the wavy line quilting in yellow. Here's hoping that Spring really does come soon- I'm currently looking out on piles of snow and ice as well.
ReplyDeleteSnowed here all day yesterday. Followed by hail and then freezing rain in the evening. But today is warm, -3 bright and sunny : )
ReplyDeleteLove your butterflies! Honestly, you haven't posted anything I haven't loved : ) Still waiting patiently for the zebras...I am so excited!!
Such sweet bright colors in your topper... having never seen Architextures in person, they are soo pretty! And so many fun link ups this week :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're fed up with it by now Lorna, but I'm so jealous of your snow!!! We've barely had a whisper here - and nothing that ever settled. Those butterflies are sure to lift your spirits though and bring dreams of warmer climes to come :) Not too long to wait now, hopefully.
ReplyDeleteLovely butterflies. You've definitely got wildlife in quilting pretty well covered.
ReplyDeleteHello Lorna!
ReplyDeleteI love your butterflies table runner! Very beautiful fabrics! I hope Spring come soon...
Oh my gosh! People are already showing finished quilts on their blogs! I just made a tiger block to join the elephant parade. You make these animals look so easy, and they are definitely not easy, so I appreciate your work and pattern so much more! The butterflies are lovely, as are the zebras and the sweet pink quilt you made the other day. So many quilts to make!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your butterfly table runner ~ I really need to pick up some Architextures! Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished zebra...I am sure that quilt will be adorable. I saw a sign yesterday that said 17 days until spring so I hope that count is really on. 16 and counting!
ReplyDeleteNothing to post. Just popped in to say HI!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty butterflies! And there's nothing like a touch of yellow to bring a little warm weather cheer. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteI saw your butterflies featured by @alexveronelli on Instagram. Yay! They are so perfect to see this time of year.
