Torn Between Two Lovers

Many psychologists believe that the most difficult decision to make is to choose between two positives. Let me share this secret.  I just have to get it off my chest.  I mean, what's a girl to do?

I say, "WHY CHOOSE?"

I am torn between two lovers.  Each has desirable qualities.  And bring about some really intense feelings from deep within me.  Both are rich, vibrant and sexy.  I just can't say I love one more than the other.

I have to make a confession.  I am a fabric floozie.

There.  I've said it.  It's out in the open.

Anyone who follows my blog can tell you that I am in LOVE with SOLIDS.

More info on any of these quilts can be found on the My Quilts page tab

Even as recently as yesterday, the evidence of my love of solids can be seen with Friday finish in this custom order WoW-E! quilt.

While it is true that Robert Kaufman's Kona Cotton Solids were my first love, they are not my only love.  Then along came Northcott's ColorWorks Premium Cotton Solids.  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Now really.  Why am I telling you all this?  Well, I am a follower of the talented Jenn who blogs over at A Quarter Inch from the EdgeIn this post, Jenn issued a challenge for her readers to create a post using a pile of four colours and post about those four colours and their love of solids.  In honour of Valentine's Day, there is a special linky party where we are encouraged to link up and show our love of solids!

Now Jenn takes her love of Kona to a whole 'nother level.  She has a page on her blog, Kona Love, where she has compiled an alphabetical list of every Kona colour there is.  And then crosses them off as they are used, providing a link to the project(s) she has used them in.

Play Crafts Palette BuilderFor those who are lacking in the solids department, Jenn has suggested you could also upload a photo to the Palette Builder 2.1 by Anne of Play Crafts.  This special feature of Anne's blog will allow you to choose colours from the photo and match them to create a virtual pile of the appropriate solids you could use.

Now I would have chosen a slightly different mix of four Kona's for this pile.  Choosing instead four of the colours used in making the original WoW-E! quilt blocks.  But I used them all up and have to order more.  So I just dug into my stash and after much deliberation went with this pretty pile.

K001-185 Creamsicle, K001-1482 School Bus, K001-405 Alegria, and K001-145 Pear

These four fabrics were left over from my second WoW-E! quilt.  And I love the saturated hues of this pile from the Northcott ColorWorks collection.

9000-27 Pink, 9000-550 Saffron, 9000-621 Bahama Blue, and 9000-710 Chartreuse

Happy Valentines Day, dear readers!
Wishing you a day filled with lots of love, happiness......
And FABRIC!

Linking up to A Quarter Inch from the Edge for her I Love Kona challenge.

Keep On Quilting On!

  4. Oh you fabric floozy, you! I think there are more floozies out there that would care to admit! Love your Kona bundle. Are you shocked to learn I only have 2 of 4 in my hoarde? The Northcott's not too shabby either... I think it's just a collecting gene that keeps me from other solid lines. Thanks for talking up the link-up (and of course, for linking up)!

  5. How very sweet of you to serve up such eye candy for us today! Feeling a need for solids, of which I have pitifully few, I have concocted and activated a plan whereby I buy a quarter yd of just a couple solids anytime I am in the physical presence of any...which may happen as seldom of once every couple of months! Just Wednesday I brought home some lt gray, a nice pink, and very light blue :) happy happy :)

  6. Hahahahaha - "a fabric floozie" - that is a hoot and you are a riot Lorna! I follow Jenn too and that sounds like a really fun linky! Even just to go look at what others have come up with will be fun! I love the color combo you dug up. Anne's Palette Builder at Play Crafts ---- I've spent a few hours that went by in a flash just playing with it. What a great tool for us quilters!

  7. I love your colour combinations. I'm feeling that my Kona stash is lacking. I now want all 303 colours.

  8. I'm with Anja - I want them all, too! I better NOT buy a color card from them...

  9. I totally get it. I do love me some Kona...but I equally love several other brands of solids as well. They have all been getting equal time in my quilts recently, it's just a matter of which on has the perfect color needed.
