Giggles Up Top

I could not be more pleased with the progress made this week on my Giggles charm pack quilt top!  Such a delight to see how perky and fresh it turned out!

Paired up with some bright Kona cotton solids, these fun charms squares are now all framed in and have been sashed in Kona Snow.  When it came time to add the borders, I needed a refresher course and used my mitered border tutorial.

Fold the corner diagonally with right sides facing and lining up the raw edges of the outside borders.  Place the 45 degree line of your acrylic ruler on the seam line of your block and draw a line from the corner of the block to the edge of the outside border.

Pin along the drawn line, being careful to match points where the inner borders intersect with the drawn line.  Beginning at the corner of the block, sew toward the outside edge, backstitching at the start and end of your seam.

Press the seam open and ensure that your inner border matches.

Trim seam to 1/4".

Repress the trimmed seam open.

Press again from the front.  Ta, da!

It has been quite a while since I did a full size bed quilt.  And this one is a good double bed size at 84" x 96".

Believe me... This top is too long for my hanging rod to allow this top to hang without dragging on the floor.  And my floor is too dirty to take the chance with the white background.  So this will have to do for now!


Now what to do for the backing?  I would really like to keep it simple and find a wide back fabric this time around.  I have my eye on some Widescreen by Carolyn Friedlander for Robert Kaufman Fabrics.  Let's see if I can get a hold of some without paying some outrageous shipping charges!
