Sew Retro, Baby! quilting complete

Follow my blog with Bloglovin It took a few sessions, but as of yesterday, I have finished quilting the Sew Retro, Baby! quilt.

Now I am stumped... What to choose for binding?  I thought of using a grey with white polka dots, which ties in with the backing, but it doesn't stand out much.  I thought of using a black and white stripe.  I even thought of using a green with white polka dots to pick up on the bit of green that is found in some of the fabrics in the top, but it looked very Christmas like with the darker pinks.

PS.  Linking up with Freshly Pieced for WIP Wednesday!
Please HELP!  What would you choose for binding this very pink quilt???

  1. Wow! Stunning! What about green for something a little out of the box? There are splashes of it on the front... or for a more traditional look one of the darker pinks to frame it out.

  2. Beautiful quilt. It's going to be great whatever you use for binding. Pink or white, or even green will do.

  4. Your quilt is wonderful and the quilting really is perfect.
I would say maybe a solid grey binding to frame the front.

  5. I'm partial to dots on bindings, so I'd do it in the same pink with tiny dots that you have in the quilt.

  9. I also go with stripes, my favorite binding. Maybe you could find a pink, white, red w/a touch of green stripe. I'm sure whatever you choose will look great. I just love the pattern. Great job.

  10. Oh this just zings! Love it! I think any binding you opt for on this quilt will work, but I'm keen on yellow to enhance the pinks or else the bright green. Fabulous!

  13. Very cute! I agree with an earlier commenter -- I like one of the pink dot fabrics for the binding.

  14. Your quilt is fantastic - it totally suits the retro tag, but the white sections look like curly brackets and full stops to me! I would probably go with a solid dark pink for the binding, though I love some of the other suggestions like green too :)

  15. Visiting as well today through WIP Wednesday. I love how you quilted this retro baby - it really enhances what I think is an amazing pattern and execution. The grey sounds good for a safe and more subtle look, and I noticed a lot of people like the green idea, but if it isn't the right green it may look christmasy. What about a totally different thought like a pop of aqua/blue in a solid or a yellow sunshine color in a solid. I saw that approach done on a quilt with similar coloring and I thought it came out really sharp. Just some humble suggestions. Enjoy!

  16. Wow, what a bright cheery quilt. I like that quilting, too, really sets off those curves. I'd choose a binding colour that you've used in the the quilt top. One of those dark pinks or multi colours, the green or even the white would look great, if you have enough of any of them left. Or you could cut strips of different fabrics for a multicoloured binding if you like. Whatever you choose will be great.
