I love to practice FMQ ideas, sketch out quilting plans or even just block plans. I'm constantly doodling....in waiting rooms, in heavy traffic, while I am a passenger, while on the phone. Funny, I've got a quilt planned similar to your sketches above...for a baby quilt. I saw one similar online a while ago and liked it...or was it a fabric design? I forget now. I would love to see tyour sketches. I'm not sure you should plan a certain day to be a certain theme. It might hinder your creativity...unless you are structured like that and need the linearness of a set theme....then it could help, but leaving the ing open to flow as I see fit works best for me. I'm very grateful I've found your blog and look forward to following you in the new year.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02755611379189841510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6222010192421604268.post-58304761653310604532015-01-03T15:27:19.311-05:002015-01-03T15:27:19.311-05:00Solid ideas for new topics? Thank you for all the laughs and inspiration along the way!
My foggy brain can't come up with anything new this morning for interactive blogging ideas.
We are so spoiled by computers, that is fun to see you using graph paper. That used to be invaluable to me, but now it has been years since I've touched it.
I wish you a year full of creative fun! Sort of SAL but I would rather keep it as theme of the month or something. Or technique to try as a month theme. You can do that with your tuts, encourage your readers to try and test them out. I hope you make some small projects too since I don't always want to make BIG = quilt project. I like ...Happy New Year 2015 to you as well Lorna! I like all your posts and would love to participate in any way possible. Lately I have been thinking about my "journey" as a quilter--you know the progression we all go through. Everyone starts somewhere--and goes through a process to improve their skills. Sometimes this is challenging and "pushes" us--whether it is learning to mitre corners or doing something a little more sophisticated like micro-stippling for the first time doing free-motion quilting. Maybe we could connect by sharing what we're doing to "push" our skill level in our art. I know this year I'm going to do more ruler work in my quilts--which really (REALLY) will be pushing my quilt art. Maybe we could share how we're improving our quilt art.Shannon @ Modern Tradition Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03003856745587202892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6222010192421604268.post-40233336389446540502015-01-01T12:05:34.996-05:002015-01-01T12:05:34.996-05:00Happy new Year. 2015 got here, even in Pacific Sta...Happy new Year. 2015 got here, even in Pacific Standard Time. I am still kind of a novice at this blogging but would like to participate if I could get someone to show me hands on the ins and outs. I am a hands on learner. That is my goal for 2015, improve my blog and learn the ins and outs. I was amazed to learn you have not been blogging for years.

As for schedules, I am not very good with them. I try all the time to schedule my day but it doesn't last even a day. I think I am to much of a free spirit. Since retiring I rebel against "having" to do something or be somewhere at set times. Can you tell I am a child of the 1960"s? :)

Posting quilts in process would be interesting. I often wonder how long it takes others to produce a quilt. I found your post on new fabrics very inspiring and I love the anticipation of seeing what you will make with them.

May you have a blessed 2015
DebbieDaytona Damselhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00973995351685168211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6222010192421604268.post-45773602005956420212015-01-01T09:30:34.482-05:002015-01-01T09:30:34.482-05:00You never cease to amaze me! I find that when I think about taking more photos and trying to write up a post, sometimes it doesn't feel right so, no worries, I just have a few extra photos. And then sometimes I realize that I had been struggling with a technique so it turns into a fun (and hopefully interesting or helpful) blog post. Also posting progress for big projects keeps me motivated to keep going. Some quilts are just. so. BIG!
